And here's Jeff Garlin's take on the above @ 4minutes 55 seconds

They did not change the rule. You can have a tie.

Re: Your final win/loss prediction for 2007

Before the preseason, I'd have stuck firmly at 8-8...I'm going to disagree with what someone else in the thread said...I think as a whole we have done some things to make you think we're a better team....I'm going to go 10-6, I'm sure we'll probaboly lose a game that we should win (like Buffalo) and we'll probaboly win a game we should probaboly lose (like New England)....

As long as were healthy, this team can compete, if we start losing key guys, I dont know if we have the depth anywhere but secondary to still be a top teir team...its always hard to tell...but I love my skins so 10-6

NFL Rules Digest: Sudden Death

Quote:
Sudden Death

The sudden death system of determining the winner shall prevail when score is tied at the end of the regulation playing time of all NFL games. The team scoring first during overtime play shall be the winner and the game automatically ends upon any score (by safety, field goal, or touchdown) or when a score is awarded by Referee for a palpably unfair act.
At the end of regulation time the Referee will immediately toss coin at center of field in accordance with rules pertaining to the usual pregame toss. The captain of the visiting team will call the toss prior to the coin being flipped.

Following a three-minute intermission after the end of the regulation game, play will be continued in 15-minute periods or until there is a score*. There is a two-minute intermission between subsequent periods. The teams change goals at the start of each period. Each team has three time outs per half and all general timing provisions apply as during a regular game. Disqualified players are not allowed to return.

*Exception:In preseason and regular season games there shall be a maximum of 15 minutes of sudden death with two time outs instead of three. General provisions that apply for the fourth quarter will prevail. Try not attempted if touchdown scored. If there is no score in the 15 minutes, the game shall end in a tie.

I really feel our D is fixed, (regardless of the Jags score), and our O will be tougher, to me that will translate to a 10 or 11 win season. We are more talented now than we have been in the past decade or so.

Re: Your final win/loss prediction for 2007

My position on the defense has not changed from a month ago. I still worry about this unit. What the preseason has shown is encouraging, but that doesn't mean a whole lot. The pass defense will definately improve though (with 100% certainty).

What did you say a month ago?
While I do not feel we will rival the Ravens, I feel our LB's get better, and our Secondary is twice, if not 3 times better than it was last year. Sure our up front 4 is weak, but with a strong secondary, and good lb's coupled with a healthy front 4, we should be a 5-10 defense this year.

There's no way the defense won't be better than last year. I'm thinking we're going to see a huge statiscal jump as well. They're faster and frankly, a little more stout in the middle.

You never say never, but I just don't see Rogers dropping that many ints this year, and for the most part he was usually in position to make a play on the ball. Yeah, we'll be good on that side of the ball.

Pass D will be much improved. Run defense will regress, but I don't know how much. But we should force a lot more turnovers and the defense should get a lot better than last year because of it. I forsee a middle of the pack defense, maybe between 18-22 in the league.

Combined with a top half offense, it should be good enough for 9 wins.

I think the run defense will significantly improve. How do you figure we'll regress from what 31 or 32? Just London Flethcher's presence alone is worth a few more tackles behind the line of scrimage.

Well, I respect that opinion, but I feel you're not understanding the significance of the LB play. Fletcher is a run stopping machine. With a completely renovated secondary, that will free up the LB's to do more blitzes and shy closer to line, while last year we needed every man, including the sideline judges to try to stop the pass.
I agree our run defense will be our biggest issue on the D, but it will amaze you to see how much better they will get BECAUSE the secondary is fixed.
If we're sitting at 18-22, Williams needs to be fired.

Why thank you.

That commercial sure is goofy, but it makes me want a Snickers. And it makes me want someone to sing me a song while I eat it.

It also makes me think about going tubing on a river of caramel.
