Agree completely. The roster Gibbs started with from Spurrier just flat out sucked. He built a TEAM. Thanks Gibbs for your hard work these last 4 years. We will forever remember the Blowouts of Dallas, and the miracle comeback against them too. The 5 game and 4 game runs to make the playoffs and your class handling the Sean Taylor situation. You will forever be a Redskins Hero

100% Agreed. A new GM must be first priority or we are in for another long 15 years.

Re: Gibbs to Resign as HC/President
I hope as 'special advisor' the first piece of advice he gives is to hire Floyd Reese or figure out a way to pry Scott Pioli from New England..

Re: Gibbs to Resign as HC/President
Being 67, dealing with the death of Taylor, facing the same possibility with his grandchild with leukemia/cancer, he needs to focus on his family.
It was a great run. Despite what anyone says, I'm glad he came back and rescued the team. He has actually turned Snyder into a good, smarter owner and set up the team with a bright future with a ton of young talent. Playoffs two of the last 3 years despite HORRIBLE luck with injuries to star players every year, plus he's put a great staff in place. Greg Williams and Al Saunders will likely stay around and I believe Williams will be very successful. The game has changed since Joe's first stint, but Williams knows today's game better and is more aggressive. Thanks for the memories, again, Joe. |

I would mess myself if we got Scott Pioli or Floyd Reese.

Feelings summed up in monosyllabic words:
FUCK. WOW. NEXT?

Re: Gibbs to Resign as HC/President
I am extremely upset about this. Don't say repeatedly you intend on fulfilling your contract and then walk away after the toughest and most gut wrenching season the Redskins organization has ever endured. It's not right. Unless Joe has a very good reason for not sticking around, I'm afraid my level of respect for him might be slightly diminished and I hate that feeling.
God, I am so pissed off right now and I just can't sit here and be all, "Well, good luck Joe, thanks for the memories." I realize I sound like a complete drama queen right now, but I don't care. I hope I feel differently after I hear him speak. |

Ok, we have got to promote from within. Continuity is the key to success. My money is on GWill, hopefully with Al as the asst.

If yesterday's presser was any indication, he was either on the fence or already decided but hadn't finalized with Snyder, and thus was very non-committal with the media. As for good reasons, the guys is 67, probably hasn't seen his family in 4 years, and has a grandson with leukemia, besides bringing this team through what is arguably one of the most difficult seasons to be endured by an NFL team. I think that's reason enough to cut him a break for wanting to leave.

Re: Gibbs to Resign as HC/President
He made a decision to go. He is old. I respect his decision and am glad that he brought us back into contention. His job coming here was to make us a respectable team and 2 playoff apperences in the last 3 years makes us a respectable team. He did a fantastic job and now look at the players and coaches we got in here. We will probably promote Williams to coach and that is great. There is not such a drastic change. The wheels will still keep moving. Gibbs did that. He took that sorry piece of shit team we had and made us a real team. He put the pieces in place. We have a full chess board now and maybe someone else will do a great job controlling it. Gibbs did exactly what he was supposed to do. Bring the chance of winning back to washington. Gibbs is the man.

For selfish reasons of course I would want Gibbs back, but you have to respect the man's decision. |
