You can buy a good oil filter for $7-$10, and a gallon of full synthetic for $25-$30. So for around $40 at the most you can do a full synthetic oil change and it takes all of 15 minutes. If you use conventional oil it will cost about half that.

The thought of paying $250 for an oil change makes me shudder.

I know how to do it, but I do not like to do it. If you could point me in the direction of a garage that will let me do it myself and has the proper facilities for disposal etc., then I would consider it. As it stands now, I would rather pay someone to do the work that I don't like to do. Besides the exta cost comes with a garentee usually.
