Daseal, all of the QBs that Gibbs won with had something that Quincy does not...they were very smart. Carter isn't an idiot, but I know many Cowboy fans that didn't want him there, and were happy to see him go, even though they knew that meant they had to rely on old man Vinny or a baseball player.
That is one thing that all of our QB's do have....they are all very smart. So if it turns out that Ramsey isn't the man (which, for the record, I seriously doubt will happen), I don't know who they'll go after, but it will definitely be someone that has shown to be more intelligent than Q. |

Quincy Carter is so good that he got cut when Dallas had the President of the AARP backing him up.

You're telling me LT wasn't the leader of that team? Please. He was the scariest thing about that team.
QC is better than many of you want to give him credit for. He's made plenty of his mistakes, but he's also shown a lot of improvement. Why don't you guys toss in some ideas? I like Ramsey myself, but I think Carter is an affordable option if Gibbs doesn't like Ramsey. |

No, I'm not saying that he wasn't the leader, but playing LB and QB are 2 TOTALLY different things. Don't you think? |

Isn't Matt Hasselbeck on the last year of his contract? I would much rather have him then QC, Kitna, or Brees.
Then there are others like Warner, Brad Johnson, and possibly Jake Plummer who could be available next year. You know what guys let's bring back Tony Banks!!! ![]() |

i guess daseal is the board's main guy for off-the-wall ideas but now we're just at the point where it's lame and any trash he throws out there he'll back up. however...
Q would be no worse than anyone we have in there now. why? b/c we've got one lame-duck who for whatever reason can't throw to a checkdown on 3rd and 18 and another who doesn't even have susbtantial exp. with the starting unit. note the chemistry with him and coles and how it isn't anywhere else. we've got to learn that it's gonna take time to get rams up to speed and eventually successful. there are no quick fixes. mcnabb, culpepper, carr, etc. all struggled initially. it's just the way it goes. so let's be glad ramsey is in now and unless he absolutely stinks it up look for him to be on target next summer. and as for the comparison with the former 'skins QBs that's the trash i'm talkinga bout.. heh |

I actually think he would be a great fit for Gibbs and his system. A Gibbs offense needs a mobile QB at this point especially with the speed and agility of the LB's in today's NFL. I know he had Rypien but he also had the "Hogs" believe it or not. The offensive line we have will not allow a pocket passer to be successful. He has to use his legs as a weapon or at least be able to avoid the sack. If Quincy Carter led his team to a 10-6 record with all of the insults and yelling from Parcells no wonder he was smoking weed to calm his nerves, he would follow the settle but firm guidance of Joe Gibbs.

Unless I've been reading this thread wrong, the Quincy Carter subject emerged when Daseal started the post and brought up QC as a possible alternative
I don't think Big C started anything

he has a serious accuracy problem... SUNRA, you tend to equate QBs with their team's records... so, is kyle boller a top 10 QB? or craig krenzel? parcells D is what led them to 10-6 more than QC... |

That may not be your intentions, but believe me that's not the road to take when describing a QB who has proven he can play in the NFL with professionals and lead his team to a 10-6 record. That's intelligence. I'm sick of hearing black QB's described as athletic but not actually as a thinker. I guess they don't study playbooks like the rest of the "guys" do.

SUNRA, do you know the difference between someone thinking a guy is dumb and someone calling/thinking he's a N*****... i sure as hell hope so. before calling people racist, maybe think about the fact that QC made bad decisions (besides drugs, he had more ints than TDs, etc).
again with the records... craig kenzel is 3-0 as a starter, he's obviously the best qb in the nfl, and the sole reason the bears are winning those games, right? (btw, not an insult, its an honest question) |

You know SKINSROCK you bring up an issue that needs to be clarified. When you mentioned that even Dallas Fans wanted Carter out of Dallas and this is before the drug test issue, What was their reason for wanting him out of there, because of VinnyTesteverde? I'd like to see their faces right now. The reason this is the worse Cowboys team in ten years is because of an old ass washed up QB who was beaten out of his job like Brunell by a young QB and that arrogant and real smart ass Parcells needed and excuse to bump Carter off to make room for Testeverde knowing that Carter's abilities were greater than all of Dallas's QB's combined and that Testeverde would stink up the place and Carter would be asked to replace him. Carter showed intelligence by not shitting on Parcells in the media. I know a lot of Cowboys fans who thought it was a shitty and cut-throat way to get rid of a player who had just led his team to the playoffs. If Parcells did want Testeverde, Carter would still be in Dallas. So the issue of drugs was never an issue until the Tuna make it an issue.

So if leading your team to a 10-6 record is 'intelligence', what's it called when you're cut the following year in the preseason in favor of a 41 year old QB?? Hmmm..... Somebody wanna help me with the word? I think it starts with a D and ends with a B. |
