Re: Lavar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a Coward
Arrington is an idiot.
Gibbs is high class, always has been, always will be. Lavar is confusing courage and testosterone. Gibbs is filled with courage, Lavar is only filled with testosterone. Only one of these fades with age. Grow up Lavar....you just weren't that great....and, you sucked at taking coaching, which explains why you were often out of position....that spells A-R-R-O-G-A-N-C-E. Gibbs doesn't like arrogant, uncoachable players, I'd cut you too unless you'd take situational pass rusher money....which you didn't! I used to listen to Lavar, now I have lost all respect for anything that comes out of your mouth...you IDIOT!!! And this is 5 pages because calling Gibbs a Coward by an ex SKIN is BETRAYAL and completely bogus. Gibbs is the best coach the Skins ever had. He had nothing to gain and everything to lose to come back...yet he risked his good name to bring respectability back to the Skins....that is certainly not what a coward would do.

Re: Lavar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a Coward
I recall reading in various publications that Gibbs racing wasnt going broke by any means but it wasnt a cash cow either. Racing is a very expensive sport and Snyder made Gibbs an offer he couldnt refuse.
Dont get me wrong, I dont think that the only reason Gibbs came back was to get $ for his race team but I do think the $ was a major factor in his return to coaching. As for LA, I agree with cpayne. This is LA trying to get himself back in the media and make himself somehow relevant again. He does have issues some of which hurt him in becoming the great LB that we all thought he would be. |

At least Holdman did what his coaches said to do...Arrington did not play within the scheme and couldn't be trusted on the field.

CPAYNE5 you say you never heard LA say how close he was to ST in his speach but the little part I found it seem as he did. LaVar: [He started by speaking of how he is "guilty of moving on," in football, in life, not taking the time to look back.] "This situation has forced me to face those issues that sometimes you really don't want to face. You imagine that your boys and your loves ones are okay and always will be. Sean, I love you as my brother, as my friend ... the rest of my fellows and my teammates that I never took the opportunity to tell you how much I love you guys, this is the opportunity to do it. I'm going to miss him with all my heart. ... I thought when he came to the Redskins that I was his guardian angel. I know he was one of my guardian angels. He was there for me. Today, he's one of mine." After a song, Sean's 14-year-old sister, Jazmin Taylor spoke through tears. "All I want to see is his smile again. He had the best smile in the world." ... and "I know he can hear me. I'm waiting to see you again, but I know you are home." |

Re: Lavar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a Coward
If that is true, why do you believe he left with a year remaining and 5m on his contract?

Didn't we win like our last 5 out of 6 with Gibbs? On the other hand...I don't think Lavar ever saw the post-season

Re: Lavar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a Coward
Gibbs put his reputation on the line to come back to a team that was a complete mess, in no small part because talented players such as LaVar Arrington had no concept of putting team first, or leadership. Gibbs took the heat time and again and never said a bad word about any of his players in public (including Lavar) even when he could have called out his players. Gibbs (and others such as Williams) put in countless hours at the office and on the road to revive a sinking franchise while his 3-year old grandson was fighting for his life. There's no coward there.
So the people on this board side with Gibbs, that's how it should be. This is a Redskins' fan site and Joe Gibbs has done more for this franchise than Arrington ever hoped to accomplish. Arrington's career was, for all intents, a failure and he can blame others but he shouldn't forget to look in the mirror either. Gibbs has coached hundred of players in the NFL and Arrington is the only one who has said something bad about him. Maybe Arrington should think about that.

Re: Lavar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a Coward
Do you have some previously unknown insider information you can share? Or is this just idle speculation on your part?

Re: Lavar Arrington calls Joe Gibbs a Coward
WOW lavar you really hold a grudge don,t you..thanks for your very short career here in washington i,m glad you were able to stop by a bit.anyways.
joe gibbs the hall of fame coach 3 time superbowl champion/3 time nascar champion a true character guy who is truly loved by me and many other fans alike has a strong track record .lavar you had a once and a lifetime chance to play for one of the best coaches in football but you didn,t want that too happen so here you are and now you are paying for it and you know it as well too.did this organization do some injustice sure they did but lavar didn,t help himself either..so this leads me to this lavar the once proud linebacker from penn state who had all the talent in the world but nothing to show for it but for the lack of discipline on the field you need to be quiet and move on with your life just like we have and we are doing absolutely fabulous at the moment too. joe gibbs came back to the skins cause he saw a once proud organization in disarray and he came back to reserrect this organization to where it is now and thats on the winning side of things now....joe gibbs is the head chief in charge of this organization and he saw what was going on inspite of knowing he was set with his family and grandkids with his raceteam...he indeed took a chance on his name and legacy to come back and to give back to this organization what it truly needed and that was direction within...and from himself...so lavar again please can it will ya.. move on..on a sidenote not to mention that the ST situation here was tough to say the least and joe gibbs was there for us and the team and it showed.. thanks and i,ll get off my soapbox now.. just my 2cents worth
