Indeed. I've grown to hate McNabb strictly because of his general success as the starting QB for a team I hate, but the fact is that he's pretty much been a stand-up guy since he's been in this league. You could probably count with one hand the number of players in the NFL who would actually go so far as to deliberately applaud their own team's misfortune in a game, and McNabb is not one of those players. C'mon.

You a closet Eagles fan?
Donovan has shown the world that he isn't the same QB that he was a few years ago, didn't know games could end in ties, and may be a little sensitive to criticism, but, to my knowledge, he's never acted like an a-hole in public.

I'm not Eagles fan by any means, but I have respect for Reid and McNabb, notwithstanding whatever shortcomings they may each have.

Re: Playoff Push

Bottom line is we can't worry about what everyone else does. In order to be a playoff team we're going to have to take care of business, like we did last year. That probably means going 4-1 down the stretch. But if we don't make it the one game that's going to come back and bite us in the ass is the home loss to STL.

I've been saying that since the second it happened. There are too many good teams in the NFC this year to lose games like that and expect to succeed.

Re: Playoff Push

These next 2 games will be tough. I like our chances though. I didn't really like putting us in prime time against the Ravens because of how we been playing in prime time this year. If you think about it though, we gotta win one of these prime time games, and I believe the time is now now! About the Giants game, we gotta play them physical and keep the game close.

True, I think they'll probably lose this week to Tampa anyway and will probably finish around .500. Brees is great but they're just too pass happy and that D isn't great either.

Re: Playoff Push

ESPN blogs has a good breakdown of the NFC South teams schedules here:
ESPN - A look at the NFC South road to the playoffs - NFC South

Here's my wishlist for the NFC South:
NO goes 4-1, only losing to Chicago
Tampa goes 2-3, losing to NO, Carolina, and Atlanta
Carolina goes 3 - 2 losing to Giants, NO
Atlanta goes 3-2 losing to SD, NO
that would give Carolina an 11-5 record
and everyone else 10-6 fun tiebreaking that!!!

Re: Playoff Push

I'm rooting for the Arizona Cardinals and the rest of the West to win as many games as possible as that would help increase our strength of schedule when it comes to tiebreakers against the NFC South. My friend is getting nervous though now considering the Redskins are just ahead of the Falcons in the standings, when I explained to him that it was most likely due to strength of schdule. I mean I like the Falcons to but part of me just wishes they could win the damn division so I wouldn't have to worry about kicking them out of the playoffs.

However I bleed maroon and black and if the cost of a Redskins playoff spot is the Falcons staying at home for the playoffs then so be it. Plus I don't think my friend realizes how good our team is at making playoff runs in the closing weeks of the season and with the aniversary of Sean Taylors death I expect nothing less then an emotional win against the Giants. Also if you guys remember back in 05

His (Wellington Mara) team honored him after his death by defeating the team he always viewed as the Giants' biggest (and oldest) rival, the Washington Redskins, 36-0 at Giants Stadium. The 80,000 fans in attendance gave his mention a standing ovation.

Hopefully we can accomplish a similar feat this weekend.

Also while I'm at it, do our NFC East foes count twice when it comes to our strength of schdule?

Re: Playoff Push

Looking back on this season to date, it's hard to take the Rams loss which we should've won, and also the second Dallas game where they only scored 14 points but still Washington lost. That's two more wins we should have had for a 9-3 record. We need more offense or it won't matter if we get to the playoffs or not. It ws fun watching the early season (after the Giants opening game), but these last few weeks have been horrible. JC needs to make quicker decisions when he's throwing the ball. What happened to those passes to Cooley for 20 - 30 yards downfield? He dumps off to Cooley for 5 - 7 yards now. The Redskins look totally disorganized, and sometimes Jansen isn't even blocking anybody.

I definitely agree. Most of these teams are playing each other head to head in the last few games this season. I dont think Dallas will make the play-offs honestly. There remaining games are against Pitt, NYG, Bal, Phil.

Atlanta has to face NO, Tampa Bay & Minnesota. Not to mention all these teams are trying to getin the play-offs also.

Minnesota has to face Arizona, Atlanta & NYG.

If we can win out or atleast lose only one game. We still might have a good chance to make it into the play-offs.

Re: Playoff Push

I'm really disappointed in the way the Redskins look the same every week. What's the point in getting into the playoffs if we can't compete with the really good teams during the season?

Re: Playoff Push

I really think all this talk of playoffs is B.S. I wan't to see this team get better... I will be in Cincy next week to see this team and I don't have illusions of this team making a push like years past cause like other here stated, this year there are a lot of good teams in the NFC. And we are not one of them yet!

We need and will get better! And it will start in Cincy!!!!

Better pas rush! Better pass blocking!!! Better overall organization of the offense!!! Just plain better!!!

Re: Playoff Push

I’m sick of them. For as long as I can remember I’ve watched every game in its entirety- last night, after the landry interception and subsequent field goal, I turned the game off- I knew there was NO way we were coming back (short of several defensive touchdowns). If we lose their next 3 games (SF just beat the jets, Phili beat the giants and Cinci can score), and I think they will, I will consider not re-upping for my season tickets (in the decidedly less homey, FedEx Field for next year. I’m sick and tired of seeing them lose in the same manner, year in, year out.

1) Make poor draft and off season player signings

2) Start of the season OK

3) The rest of the league figures out how to stop’em (skins can’t score without the run)

4) The redskins don’t adapt or evolve (choosing to run the same plays, blaming execution), and dig themselves in a hole

5) Eek out a playoff birth and lose in the first round or miss it altogether.

If the definition of insanity (Einstein) is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result- perhaps we need to look at ourselves. Listen up Danny, it ain't working.

Talk of the playoffs is just silly at this point. We have no business there this season.
