Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
All kidding aside, i am dead serious that I think the Skins are going to make a big move to get Sanchez. If we want him, they really have to trade with the Seahawks or Browns to get him. I really think the Seahawks will take Crabtree, so thats why I think the Browns are the team anyone wanting Sanchez will have to trade with to get him.
If, for some reason, no one trades with Cleavland, and they pass on Sanchez, then then Jacksonville becomes the next team (8th pick), where I can see Snyder and other teams trading in to get him. Anyway, assuming the Skins traded with Cleavland to select Sanchez, then we have to look at what they would want - our first and third our no-brainers. And assuming Cleavland trades Edwards to the Giants as has been rumored, they would have a need at receiver. Santana Moss is one of our only players with trade value, and a couple of months ago, it was reported by a reliable source that the Skins had made quiet inquiries to other teams on their interest in Moss (and Rogers)... so thats why i had us throwing Moss in the package. Trading Moss aside, anyway you look at it, if we trade up for Sanchez, there are two problems: 1) We are left without another pick until the 5th round 2) We need to get rid of Jason Campbell, who can probably not get us a 2nd round compensation at this point. To solve problem #1, do you really think Snyder would think twice about trading our 1st round pick next year for a 2nd this year? Given our dire need of o-line help to protect our new franchise QB, this move really becomes a necessity. If Snyder is really trying to replicate Atlantas success last year, he'd do what they did - draft a franchise QB first and then get some oline help. To solve problem #2, Snyder would try to work a deal with the Jets - they have an obvious need at QB and we just took the guy they were taking - so i'm thinking a 3rd and 4th is what we'd get. As I said before, its just wild speculation, but those moves are what i think the skins would be forced to do if they traded up for Sanchez - something that is becoming more and more of a possibility every day it seems (whether we like it or not).

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
Last fall, I had a good discussion with a pretty well respected former NFL Executive who said (and I've heard it indirectly elsewhere) that one of the hardest and most under-recognized (I think's that a made up word) responsibilites of the General Manager (or the person in the GM role) is that when you're putting together a team you're not only worried about the talent on the field, but also the marketability off of it.
I countered that if you put together a winning team, wouldn't that ultimately help marketability? He said sure, but you can't depend on that so you need to look at guys who are not only talented but you also need to make sure you have players (and it needs to be starters) or a head coach who have appeal to the wider masses (and sponsors). It's just the way the NFL world works now. Now, what that has to do with anything here I don't know. I'm just saying it's something to think about. On a separate note, my USC source who is really well connected to those guys says Rey is the USC guy who the Redskins have shown the most interest in and who most believes he'll probably be a Redskin (this source says we should take Matthews though). Again, this guy has no connection to the Redskins. He's just speaking from the USC players perspective. Didn't really say much about Cushing. Sanchez says he'd be surprised to be a Redskin (which I think means "I'd be stunned if I'm not a top 10 pick")

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
Listening to NFL radio this morning they were saying at #9 is where things should really heat up for Sanchez, they expect that's when the phones will start ringing for GB if he's still on the board, with someone wanting to jump up and grab him ahead of SF.

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
I don't know how marketable Sanchez would be. I think that we could have a scenario like that of Brady Quinn a couple of years ago- projected top ten pick falls to the bottom of the first. Most of the teams selecting in the top ten this year have gone on record as wanting to trade out. IMO this is a weak draft class with no clear-cut, blue chip prospects. There are too many question marks with guys like Sanchez- and Stafford for that matter. I can't imagine too many teams, even those who need a QB, are thrilled about taking underclassmen with little experience and paying them top ten money.

Why? Didn't he give Campbell some big speech about how they're in it together. Quote:

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
Really? I thought he supported Campbell a lot. Also do the players know all this?

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
Unlike Cutler though, drafting Sanchez to be QB of the F doesn't mean that Campbell isn't still going to get their best efforts for this and potentially next season.
It does mean that they think they don't have holes. Ugh.

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
I would be so pissed if I were Campbell right now especially after this whole meeting. Also if Danny started jerking off to Sanchez the end of last month then he should've told JC about it during the meeting.
Finally if I were Danny and I didn't think JC could cut it then now would be the time to draft a QB. But then this brings up the question, why draft Colt??? It doesn't matter if it is a late rounder, because there is no point of picking a guy if you truly don't believe he can contribute.

As for Zorn telling Campbell "we're in this together" what else would he say? The general belief is, and I've said this before, "Hey, we all love Jason. He's a great guy. And we can win with him. We just don't know if we can win because of him" And they still like Colt but think he's two years away at best.

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
Is it because of his lack of college experience?
