4 games?

You would think that if he's still a useful back, it would have manifested itself in a 15 yard carry or something over the last three years.
08- 8 yard long (11 carries)
07- 25 yard long
06- 33 yard long

Just thought I'd point that out.

Just for the record, I'm not saying to sign him. The man no longer has it. But Alexander is a true class act, and would be great for the team in terms of his professionalism. He would waste a space as an RB, but as a RB coach, or some sort of mentor to the rookies, I'd take him in a heartbeat. There is too much "hate" for a man that was a great player, a great running back, and a great person. From 2001-2005 he was GREAT. After that injury he wasn't the same. Now it's time for him to fade into retirement, or sign on as a mentor / coach.

He has a great foundation as well:
SA FOUNDATION
He has a quote in this link about his foundation that I love:
Salt Shakers: Shaun Alexander
Quote:
“In a dream I saw champagne glasses stacked like a pyramid,” he continues. “Once the top glass got full it began pouring out to the bottom. I took this as God telling me He was about to pour a lot of blessings out in my life.”
For those that don't know, this is Alexanders foundation in summation (on his website):
Quote:
Mission
The Shaun Alexander Foundation’s mission is to empower young men through education, athletics, character programs, and leadership training: inspiring them to reach their full potential as the mentors and role models for the next generation.

Vision

“Mentoring Young Men to Change the World”

Purpose & Method

Shaun has always had a heart to help. It is a character trait taught to him by his mother. So, in his senior year that the University of Alabama, Shaun began the Shaun Alexander Family Foundation. SAFF did almost everything: helped families with rent, scholarships, sent kids to camps, toy drives, food drives, tickets to games for kids who would have never been able to go, and much more.

As the foundation evolved so did it focus & mission. Now the Shaun Alexander Foundation partners with national organizations to make the greatest impact possible. Instead of recreating the wheel SAF is now able to impact youths ages 8 to 24 by getting them involved with our partner organizations.

You got me.

I should have added, "since 06", because that is what I meant.

No problem...
but let me ask you, would you add him if only for mentoring / coaching purposes and being a bench warmer and getting under 20 carries this year?

I would not spend a 53 man roster spot on him for any reason, but to have him around the team (preseason contract or none) -- I probably wouldn't care either way. If Zorn thinks he can help, I'm sure he'll find a way to get him in here.
