Re: Redskins final cutdown thread
Yeah, he knows very little. Buzbee tore his achillies, not his knee. Tryon was picked fourth last year, he was better than Barnes and Westbrook period. If they can cut Cody after one camp, they could cut Tryon after two years. And old at DE is stupid. This team has gotten young quick.

Yeah he's way off with his assessment.

Re: Redskins final cutdown thread
Mosley is too obsessed with Vick to notice what's happening with the Redskins.

The "old DE's" comment is dumb. Granted we probably shouldn't have kept Wynn (and frankly he may not make it very far into the season for us), but I sure wouldn't call us old. The one thing I really agreed with was calling Cody Glenn a head scratcher. I was miffed when we passed up Javon Ringer (now he's change of pace back) for him. Glenn only played like 9 college games at the LB position. To take him at all, let alone as early as the 5th round was stupid. I hated the move at the time, and I hate it even more now. At least Marko Mitchell's emergence takes some sting off of the Glenn thing.

However, Ringer ran only a 4.6 40 at the combine. He's not fast enough to be a true change of pace back.

Re: Redskins final cutdown thread
That 40 time was overblown. He's a burner. If you ever watched him at Mich St, dude can fly. Plus he's small and compact, and super strong. At 5-9, 210 he can bench over 500. He's almost Orakpo strong. Regardless he would have been a better pick than Glenn.

Re: Redskins final cutdown thread
Why is Lorenzo Alexander still on the squad? We know about his versatility on both sides of the ball but, A guy like Antonio Dixon seemed to have more upside as a DT and Alexander surely isn't our answer to OL depth. And Anthony Batiste backing up Samuels (see current depth chart)? I know Heyer can swing to LT and possibly Mike Williams can then step in and man RT but, we still look a little thin as far as quality depth. I'll say it again, Williams won't be great at pass blocking. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Re: Redskins final cutdown thread
I don't think Wynn's spot was ever in question. It's one thing to say, "we could make a small push towards the future" and force Jarmon to take on a bigger role as a rookie instead of through development, while Wynn's spot goes to Darrel Young or Rob Jackson. But it's a completely different thing to act like he was fighting for a roster spot. He never was.
It's confusing the concept of being replaceable with the assumption that he's useless.

Re: Redskins final cutdown thread
I think Warrick Dunn might be able to help this team. I thought he looked pretty good last season.
We definitely need to add an experienced OT, no matter which side he plays. Levi Jones, Tony Pashos, or Mark Tauscher might be able to help. |

Re: Redskins final cutdown thread
How did Mike Williams make the team? Nice story and all but he can't play RT for shit.
Also why keep Mason if he doesn't play teams??? |

Vinny looks shifty as hell in that video, and the whole time I got the feeling he didn't want to be there. I wonder if Zorn and Vinny did Rock Paper Scissors to see who would go before the mediots and explain why Chase was cut, among other questions |

I'm more than concerned with the fragility, as well as the lack of experience at the LB position. Of the starters Fletcher is by far the most experienced but let's face it guys, London slowed slightly towards the end of last season. Rocky has a history of knee problems so we have to keep em crossed and hope he can maintain health for the duration of the season. HB Blades is our next most experienced player at the LB position. His versatility alows him to play all three LB positions which could prove invalueable over the course of the season. The next three, Orakpo, Wilson and Henson have never played a down in the league at the position. We want to believe that Orakpo will succeed because of his credentials, but we can't loose sight of the fact he lacks vital experience, and creative OC's are going to test his skill level repeatedly all season long. Now let's talk about the DB's. I feel good about the safety position, but the CB position could become problematic depending on both the health of Rogers, and his ability to maintain his place in the lineup. Halfway through the season last year he was sent to the pine in favor of Hall and didn't accept the demotion very well. Hall, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and hope his play does not cause a lot of people to say "I told you so". Smoot. if we don't get anything else we'll always get the "rap" The second half of the CB situation is erily simular to the second half of the LB corps. Westbrook, Barnes and Tryon none of which have ever played in an NFL game. It's going to prove interesting, and I'm going to hope and pray our frontline players can stay healthy which is a tall order in this league. My antennas' are up! |
