Re: Rams vs. Redskins Gameday Thread

I still have the same problem with JC. I can't remember a time when he got a pass over an off-line defender and to a receiver...especially in stride. He missed it on the first play. He missed it out of bounds on the sideline on another play. He's good when it's a laser, but not when it's touch. How many times can we remember that he missed an open receiver deep...and who can remember when he hit?
Now, the type of pass needed in the red zone is over a defender unless you can split a seam. But for JC I think this is a low-percentage play. That's why they don't throw a fade in the corner of the endzone. That's also the kind of pass play needed for bombs. The lack of that particular technique for JC is the reason why the WRs exploded when Collins came in several years ago. While he has a noodle arm, he is better at this kind of pass. This is also the reason that Moss has never succeeded with Jason Campbell: the routes he runs requires a QB that can deliver the ball over the top with reasonably consistent accuracy (and time to adjust to it.) I think that Zorn also feels that JC has this limitation. For this reason he is loathe to call for a play that depends on this kind of a pass. Of course, this greatly limits the playbook in the red zone and greatly reduces the number of times you call a bomb.
