I was on drill one weekend in 2004, and literally right across the street from the base a guy got shot at the Sheetz. It was like 10:25 at night, and i heard the shots...pop pop pop. I called the police from the base radio.....crazy night

I didn't actually see the shooting. but i was on firewatch, and i heard the shots. The sheetz was in crepastown md, in a very, very bad part of town. Even being at the base i never felt secure because i didnt know if some crackhead protester would drive by and empty a clip.....

Nowhere is safe anymore unfortunately.

I frequent a bar the Eastern Market area of DC and I forced myself to stop taking the metro because even though the bar is probably less than 2 blocks away from the Metro station I feel EXTREMELY unsafe walking around there when I'm leaving the bar at 2am. So now I just drink less and drive myself home.

I would be kinda freaked up there anyway. Too many people just everywhere up there. But how are the clubs up there. I bet they ROCK!
