that makes sense. i was having trouble understanding or believing that when this song was written the DC metro area held themselves out to be representatives of old dixie.

this thread has been quite the history lesson for me, which is great during these months.

so was it ever "old dixie"l, or was that the original idea that got changed to DC before the song was introduced?
