I dont understand why Betts never made it as a starter in the league. He had that great 2006 season, and I think was on pace for another 1,000 yard season last year before that terrible knee injury. 100 yards against Dallas was promising.

Betts chose to be back-up and resigned with Redskins when he was a free agent few years ago.. Betts could have signed with a team where he would be a starter (I believe).. And well, what dmek said - he's a fumbling machine..

I have always liked him too..

betts said that he signed a contract extension with the skins during the '06 season b/c while he probably could have gotten a bigger contract if he waited util he was a FA at seasons end, he said he noticed alot of runningbacks that season sustaining serious injuries and he didnt want to roll the dice, not sign an extension with the skins then get injured before he became a FA compared to signing an extension with the skins during the season so that he had financial security.

i always liked betts too. that decision of his struck me as odd then and still does now. seems to be too conservative and drenched in self-doubt to be made by a professional athlete but it appears to be the right decision. hes still in the league collecting a pay check. when it is all said and done, he could walk away from the nfl with lil to no long term damage or health consequences even though he was a runningback in the nfl for 10 years or so.

good luck betts.

yeah he seemed like he wanted to start but was more than happy to sit in the backup role cashing a decent check

good insight

Injury problems, but on the bright side at least he'll be able to walk when his career's over not to mention he's probably set for life in terms of finances.

Still I wonder why Giff hasn't gone somewhere. Of the guys released he seemed to be the most talented.

I agree there. Thomas is an injury waiting to happen (but I'm assuming he'll be a back-up in Miami..and he's a good backup to have). Betts is coming off an ACL and it takes some time for guys to regain their "form" after that...

Actually Thomas shouldn't be playing anymore. He was already a huge risk last year with all those bolts in his neck. He has the money, now it's time to ride off into the sunset while you're still healthy enough to stand on your own two feet.
