If you couldn't deal with your vet teammates putting you and your big contract "in place" during the season, you'd be out of the Cowboys' locker room with a reputation for being an "entitled p*ssy" in less time.

This is SOP in the NFL. This one may be a tad extreme, but that is the deal - - the same way that duct-taping rookies to a goal post in August is SOP.

You are absolutely right; this is a large part of the reason why so many ex-NFLers - - and pros in other sports too - - are bankrupt soon after retiring. Generally, these are not sophisticated/educated folks and many of them cannot understand the harsh reality that the "money spigot" will eventually - - maybe even soon - - be cut off. It's great to be aboe to afford to pick up a tab left for you as a hazing stunt for $50K while you are making millions. But the day will come...
