It's funny, we bring in this new regime, get a sense that maybe Snyder has finally learned his lessons, and yet I've felt more distant as fan from the Skins than I ever have in my life. This is the first season where I've actually really laughed at some of our losses rather than getting annoyed or letting it ruin my afternoon. I'm simply unaffected by them this year (I do still crap on them in gameday threads. What can I say? Old habits die hard ).
i could not agree with you any more, it is the EXACT same way i feel. i missed two home games this year, first time in atleast 7 years, and it really didn't matter. this has been a really weird year as a fan, it's hard to describe it, i just feel numb towards the team. i hope some how this really does work out, but i really just don't see it happening.

For whatever reason, Shanny somehow gets a bum rap about personnel and drafts. I just don't think it's as bad as people think.

Here's a column by Thom Loverro that talks about his last four drafts. If only our previous front office had that type of success...

I know this, if McNabb isn't on the roster next year, I'll be blasting Shanahan for this disastrous trade. If we he's not back in B&G, the first signature move of his regime will be repeating the EXACT same behavior that has doomed this franchise for a decade. Not good.

Side note- does anyone think we're going to go into Dallas and win this week? If I had to guess, we get throttled pretty good, regardless of who is taking snaps for us. We're a hot mess right now.
Mmmhmm. But, at least there's still hope he's here by then. But, there's no hope of getting rid of his balls in the dirt. Or his periodic inaccuracy.
(Boy, that came out wrong. hehehe)

BTW, I'm pretty sure it's safe to project Nate Allen as having a higher ceiling than Kareem Moore.

Oh, I'm sure Dallas will pull a Philly/NY combo. By that, I mean they destroy us in EVERY FACET of the game. Even Buehler goes perfect.

I think we'll beat Dallas this week. I happen to not think we'll beat either Jacksonville or the Giants, but I think Dallas' "improvement" under Garrett is mostly a mirage caused by the Phillips era ending after a terrible road loss to the Packers. I'll give it up for Jon Kitna, who has played really well in relief of Romo. This is still a bad team, though.

On McNabb/Shanahan: are we really going to wait to lambast the trade? It was pretty indefensible the day it was made, but at least we could say "let it play out" to see if maybe we got to the playoffs and did some damage there because of a veteran QB. Obviously, that didn't happen, but we knew we'd be out at least a second and a fourth, and that, essentially, the rebuilding wasn't beginning until at least 2011 because of it.

Fine, if you are going to do that win now bs, don't alienate your best defensive player and cut all your offensive line depth because you need more roster spots. The rebuilding hasn't started yet, and all we lost was a season.

If they're that bad, why didn't we score an offensive touchdown on them in the season opener? I don't think we're going to come out alive without scoring TDs on offense.

Well, since we've thrown a TD in every game since then, if you're looking for the outlier passing performance, you've probably found it.

They are really bad, particularly on that side of the ball. The best three week run for their defense was Weeks 1-3. Post bye, they've been every bit as bad of a defense as Denver or the Texans. I get the feeling that a 20 point "outburst" probably gets it done for us this week.

Re: Rex Grossman may start this Sunday

McNabb played like crap against the Giants, and unfortunately, we didn't acquire him so he could play well in maybe up to have of our NFC East games, but that one bad game really overshadows a guy who has played a lot more like the old Donovan McNabb in the second half of the season than the guy we saw in the first half.

Still a horrible trade, but he's playing his best ball of the year right now.

Re: Rex Grossman may start this Sunday

If true, it sucks that it's coming on Dallas week. No matter what the records are, this is still a rivalry game. Might just be playing for pride, but it's the freakin' Cowboys for Pete's sake.

However, on the other hand, playoff hopes are over so as the season in three weeks. If McNabb sits, it probably means one of two things. Number one, he has nagging injuries that will only heal with rest or two, Mike Shanahan isn't so sure McNabb is the answer and wants to see what Rex can do for the remaining three games.

IF McNabb doesn't start, I am really leaning toward the latter. I would NOT be surprised to see another QB starting for the 'skins next season.

I know this, our starting QB next year is either going to be McNabb or a guy not on this roster.

yeah, after this year, I'm really hoping it's the latter.

Sit the long snapper and the place holder and the kicker. If they make that x-point and the Skins win in Overtime, are we even having this discussion? No, we would be talking about how great a 2 minute offense McNabb ran against the Bucs.

I think we're fooling ourselves if we think McNabb is a lock for this team next year. I think it's definitely table.

Going by his contract "extension" next year is definitely not a lock.

That said I'd rather keep him, bolster the OL and add some more weapons than start over at QB again.

I think we can take for granted that we're using one of our top two picks on a QB, but like last year, I think we go in a very different direction if we take a QB in the top ten/twelve, vs. taking the best available in the second round.

I think, obviously, this team needs a lot of help, certainly some on the OL as well. But we largely ignored the defense last year. I'm thinking if we go the first two rounds of the draft and add no immediate help, there's not going to be a defensive rebound despite all the talent we have on that side of the ball.

Unrelated note: would you actually extend a 35 year old Fletcher? He's going to be in the last year of his contract next season (and one year older, 36).

I wouldn't extend Fletcher, let his deal run out and figure things out then.
