Salaried sucks that just means that don't have to pay you OT.

Seriously clean house when you get to your store and just hire all hot chicks. You will have the highest grossing Game Stop on the planet.

Eating at your desk shouldn't happen unless your working and then you asked for it. Gotta step away from that world and the others around you for that meal break....or just hang a sign on your back "out to lunch"

Gamestop doesn't offer OT. Once you hit 40.01 hours the system locks you out and your subject to a write-up. As a store manager you can work whenever. We have tried the hot girl thing and it doesn't work because they're all stupid.

I hate power point especially 07 power point. Sometimes it is best to do the text boxes in excel and then paste them in as pictures into PowerPoint. That has been my go around at times.

In excel if you learn VBA you can write a lot of your own shit, it comes in handy.

The worst thing to work with in PowerPoint IMO are master slides, god I hate them and the Army makes us use them.

Re: The Workplace

Our office we have to log our time accurately, but don't see a dime extra for any more hours. Last month was 220 hour, have done almost 300 before

Find better customers, if a guy comes in and is asking about games he's probably just trying to flirt but doesn't know how.

Pretty well said. New title for me as of last month: Director of Financial Analysis. Excel is a way of life.

If you know how to use it to your advantage it practically does your job for you.

Re: The Workplace

And my last of three consecutive posts. This week HR made it mandatory for everyone in the office to attend a seminar: Violence in the Workplace.

They showed a video explaining the "continuum of flashpoint responses". They've got a damn term for everything these days.

So in the video they show these little skits of certain employee interactions that eventually lead up to conflict, and then stop it to talk about at what point is best to intervene and try to cool the situation down. This one skit starts with this shady looking guy in the office constantly making eyes at the pretty, meek receptionist. Then some time passes and she receives flowers with a note, which she then reads, and makes a horrified face. But they never let you - the audience - see what the note said.

At that point I mentally checked out. I turned to my colleague and said "this is just poor directing, naturally once she made that face the audience is going to want to know what the note said. I can't take this video seriously now."

Anybody here work in HR? How do you sleep at night knowing everyone hates you and thinks your entire career is a waste?
