Re: Redskins Trade Jeremy Jarmon
Bad trade. Why trade for a WR on the downside of his career? Clear salary cap space?

Larger roster for TC.
Weak position. Need for competition. "Dual mandate" I'm not as surprised as some others.

I don't think it is a bad trade. They simply traded two "meh" players amongst themselves. Now what is interesting is that the Skins made a trade like this during one of the busiest weeks in NFL history. Why do this trade now? Shouldn't we being using our resources on bigger fish this week? Or this all to step up something bigger?

Traded for a guy who probably wasn't going to make the final cut here anyway.

Re: Redskins Trade Jeremy Jarmon
Whose to say Gaffney will make the final cut either? I'd rather we traded Jarmon for some line help. Good teams build from the lines out, and so far all of our offensive moves have involved skill players, while we still have effectively the same offensive line from last year.

Re: Redskins Trade Jeremy Jarmon
Gaffney could start tomorrow if there was a game. I think he's got a solid shot to make the roster, much more so than JJ.
The OL moves will come. I don't see hardly any OL moves going on around the league. They'll start to happen later on in the week. |

Re: Redskins Trade Jeremy Jarmon
I understand that Jarmon wasn't an ideal fit in the 3-4 but I'd hoped he could stay as a nickel DE. He has a lot of upside & like Smoot said he did whatever was asked. If he stays healthy he can start for a no. of years.
Gaffney is a solid vet WR, I just would hate to see him take a spot from one of the rookies before they've had enough of a chance. Training camp will be intense at that position. |

Re: Redskins Trade Jeremy Jarmon
We're being introduced to the new and improved method of rebuilding. Our young receivers psyche is already spinning.

Re: Redskins Trade Jeremy Jarmon
FA's have to wait to report to camp until august 2nd. Anyone know if the same is true for traded players?

evaluator says Gaffney can be a good No. 2; calls him a possession guy. smart.. but must know how to use him (McDaniels did). |

Re: Redskins Trade Jeremy Jarmon
I'm going to go ahead and say it -- I understand these are just the first of Shanny's/BA's moves in free agency but I do not understand the moves that are happening right now. No movement for the corners, no pieces for the OL, getting Kellen Clemens, Jabar Gaffney and Donte Stallworth on the first day? and IMO, overpaying for cofield? releasing/trading mcnabb for 1 or 2 6th rounder 1 year after trading a 2nd rounder for him....losing faith, am I the only one?

Re: Redskins Trade Jeremy Jarmon
We got we could for McNabb and the fact we got anything amazes me. As for the rest, while I am not blown away by any of the moves, none of them strike me as "Wow, that was Vinny Cerrato dumb".
If everything wasn't so compressed, then maybe we get more feedback from the club as to why certain moves are being made. Right now, they are so busy dealing we haven't heard why they are doing what they are doing. Certainly nothing to "lose faith" over. Signing our free agents. Getting bodies for camp and hoping some may stick. Not trading away draft choices. Being patient. Getting something where it looked like we would get nothing (both Jarmon & McNabb) - I'm okay with all of that.
