Everyone else can do the typical light load for starters but I think the right move is to use them MORE. I'd love to see them play the whole half next week and deep into the second half after that. In the fourth I'd even give them a half.
I have no issue with Shanahan playing his projected starters an entire half. But the problem is that he can't make the opponent do the same, and the evaluation becomes meaningless against non-competition. I wish all teams would go a half with their starters in the preseason, but some teams are more top-heavy than others.

For the first time, I don't think the Redskins qualify as top-heavy. The second team defense may have flat outplayed the first team, particularly in the defensive secondary. Hard for me to make that claim because the Steelers played their third team in the second half and their second team offense is actually quite good, but if for some week DHall, Wilson, Horton, and Doughty were all unavailable, I don't think we'd have much of a drop-off with the next four guys up.
