Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III top our first 2012 NFL mock draft - Andrew Perloff - SI.com

Re: And with the 6th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the redskins select...........
From what I'm reading the Browns GM loves collecting draft picks. In the meantime if the Rams hire Fischer then that will only open a line of communication for the Skins to move up. Shanahan also has shown in the past that he's willing to move up to take the right QB. And I think it was Smoot that said the Skins like RG3 more then Luck.
As nice as it is to get draft picks we have to consider that we will be much better off getting a viable QB prospect then saying drafting a mediocre QB prospect and someone like Jarvis Jenkins. Quote:

Smoot is not the one that said that, it was another insider I scan from time to time on another forum. I'm not sure Smoot agrees with it though based on intel he's received though. (or that would be my assumption) I personally find it hard to believe myself, but I don't study game film like they do.

I've never heard that they like RG3 more than Luck

I'm with you. I'm sick of wasting picks on the secondary. Way back when we lost Smoot to the Vikes, and had to draft Carlos. I know he was wanting out, but if we had treated him right, he would have stayed. Now we let Carlos go, and are needing CB help. Please, anything but secondary help.

Re: And with the 6th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the redskins select...........
We definitely need help in a lot of positions. QB is the number 1 need. After that I would say is secondary. OJ couldn't start/finish out a whole season. Landry may not stay. Josh Wilson showed some flashes toward the end of the year, but still wasn't as good as we hoped. DHall is, well DHall a constantly targeted on/off CB, who even admitted himself that he should have been cut after some of his performances.
RT and a playmaking WR is a need, but secondary is a bigger need.

we definitely do need secondary. as of right now gomes is the only guy with any real stating potential as a young player. i dont believe in kevin barnes. wilson and d hall are marginal starters at corner at best. if we can keep landry and keep atogwe healthy, i think we will be ok there. kirkpatrick is a beast at cornerback, its not a terrible pick, however we REALLY need a qb. QB first, then either a wide receiver/cornerback.

If we could somehow maneuver a trade with Cincy... I'd be all for it. According to this mock, the Skins could get any combination of these guys at #17 & #21: WR Michael Floyd, CB Stephon Gilmore, CB Janoris Jenkins, LB Dont'a Hightower, TE Dwayne Allen, WR Mohamed Sandu, G Kelechi Osemele, CB Jayron Hosley I mean... if we can't beat the Browns to RGIII, with this situation you can grab Floyd & Gilmore or Jenkins to fill WR & CB holes and go after Foles / Osweiler / Weeden / Moore in the 2nd and/or later?? Not bad at all in my eyes... If this year proved anything... getting Kerrigan, Hankerson and Helu for trading back from #10... collecting a BUNCH of young talent is exactly what we need.

If we go on another defensive spending spree, we'll probably be having the same conversation with a similar record next offseason and hoping that the Skins can trade up to get Matt Barkley.

Really, you only named QB, FS, RT, WR. That is four positions, five if you want to add another CB to the mix. So getting five players to come to the team via free agency and the draft isn't so substantial of a task. That leaves everything else for depth. I remember last year thinking about who would play QB, C, RG, RB, FB, WR, DT, DE, OLB, ILB, FS. |
