Blache used 3 corners in 08 mostly, using Springs or Hall replacing linebacker M.Washington frequently, and that was the last good defensive team. They have pretty much stunk since then, but this year is an abomination. Blache used 3 safeties more in 09, but they were not nearly as good. I have to say, from a personnel standpoint, that this roster is better than the 2008 defensive roster in my honest opinion. It is more of a passing league now however, and that is why I would implement a 4-2-5 as a base. Robinson can come in as a 3rd linebacker on occasion, but Riley and Fletch are every down players. |

Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
what the hell are you guys talking about with WR talk .. and since when is losing RAK not a big deal ? I mean WTF seriously ..Skins' fans are starting to piss me off on this site ... like all the hating on everyone week to week ... dude we have a good defense .. obviously the Rams we were snake bit but losing those 2 players is a huge loss .. i agree w/ Jenkins it's his time to shine .. but Rak come on, that dude was straight up beast mode. Don't sound like a bunch of fair weather fans jesus. I'm on a flight from AZ as we type and I'll be 6 rows deep in the endzone to see the home opener. You don't think the other 90,000 people will give our D some noise and crank this bitch up. Calm up people. And I do agree w/ Banks, he's just pissing me off more and more. That being said, he'll probably break 2 back for tD's this weekend cause that's what he does.

Rak is a great player and it's a terrible loss..but I'm not ready to give up on the season over losing one player. We have 14 games left and unlike the past we have some quality depth. Make it work Haslett. That's what your'e being paid for.

Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
Yes, this defense is a mess, but I think the scheme should be better utiliized to minimize the coverage deficiencies. The league has caught on to what Haslett is about, and exploiting his scheming and playcalling in my honest opinion. He's not fooling anyone, and the back end players aren't good enough to overcome being outcoached.

Re: Orakpo and Carriker Done for Season
Run defense has been solid on average thus far. I don't really think it's as easy as swithing to the 4-3. Guys just need to dig deeper. That's leadership's responsibility to motivate.
