Re: Redskins Offensive Line: 2012 Unsung Heroes
Right now, I am okay with our CB's. If we lose Hall, then we need to have someone who can step into a starting role on the corner - that simply has to be the No. 1 offseason priority. I am not sure that such a person exist on the roster.
I am fine with Wilson and C. Griffin as CB2 and CB3. To me, Wilson is solid and an acceptable starting corner but only with strong safety support - which we don't have w/out Merriweather. (Not thinking Jackson is coming back - just my guess. I think he let MS down and that MS does NOT like to be let down). After a new CB and possibly safety, then do we worry about the RT spot. Polumbus is, at best, a back up, but RT is one of those positions that you can cover for both by blocking scheme and through offensive design. As many have consistently said, a single weak link in the O-Line can be protected much easier than several gaping holes at in the back end of the defense. It would be great if Bernstien comes back and plays well enough to start, just not sure that is likely to happen or something MS should rely on. Crawford looks to be a nice add but not starting material and at best a nickel corner, more likely the dime guy. Maybe in time these two can step up - but I think they may just be K. Barnes, Byron Westbrook redux.
