I smell a cap space oppurtunity.

According to the cap info here, Helu is set to make $673,000 this year. If we released him, we'd take a $235,000 hit, so we'd ultimately end up saving $438,000.

That said, we have to think about who'd we replace him with. If we replaced him with a rookie, it would cost, at minimum, $405,000. Minimum for a 3 year veteran would be $630,000. Ultimately, cutting/replacing helu would result in minimal savings or actually be more expensive. The ideal solution would be for Helu to come back healthy and do what we drafted him to do.

Personally, I think the team is unsure if he will be able to come back 100% or come back on time. I also thought there was something wrong with Royster as well?

I'd probably cut Helu and take a chance on drafting someone fast/edge runner in the 6th round again. Otherwise the radio was talking about how the team could restructure some other players to get more CAP space to pick up another player if need be.

I agree with you. If they dont think he will be 100% by the start of the regular season, we should cut him and use a late round pick on somene else. Still, if he's healthy, i want him on the team. Royster, dont really care about him.
