Re: Patten's Smart Ass Remark

11 or 12 players restructured for the good of the team. Then Patten adopts this me-first, F-the team attidue? As I was reading it my first thought was cut the bastard, but Coach Joe will do what is best...

I'm certain that the sole reason those 11 or 12 players restructured was not because it was good for the team. If it didnt work for them then they were not going to do it.

Of course like I mentioned in a previous post they will say all the good for the team bs because thats what fans want to hear and will keep them from getting ripped.

I think a very large percentage of players approached the team to restructure. I beleive that at least Jansen, Portis, and Brunell did... It is part of the team first attitude Coach Joe Gibbs has brought back to the team. If the team can do better, I can do better. Gibbs' type of guys...

Thanks, Dmek, for welcoming me back! I've returned from a very excellent vacation to New Zealand and Bora Bora!

Re: Patten's Smart Ass Remark

I didn't make too much of it. One thing I found kind of interesting was that Portis' contract apparently specifically stipulated that the Redskins reserved the right to restructure it. So even if Portis didn't want to restructure he really didn't have that much of a choice it seems, I wonder how many other players had similar contracts

Re: Patten's Smart Ass Remark

Maybe they should have asked Patten to return some of his money last year since he couldn't make it through the entire season the way Santana did.

I am certain no matter what plays he makes next season when he speaks honestly he will get ripped. When it comes to honesty and looking out for their own interests, players cant win with fans.

Re: Patten's Smart Ass Remark

I thought it sounded bad, but he is right. He also didn't say he would not have if he were asked to. A slip up in public speaking probably.
