Re: Football mags predictions
All I want to know is how many times any of these magazines have been right on their SB picks in June and July? I would imagine not any. Some of them may have picked the Seahawks last year, but I KNOW none of them picked the Steelers last year. If they can't pick'em then I am glad the Skins are NOT picked, because that would be a good sign. It's fun to buy those magazines in June and July, because there is nothing else going on in the football world, but by September or October, who really remembers or cares what they think, even if they ALL picked the Skins, You don't win the Superbowl in the media in June, you win on the field in January or Feb.

Re: Football mags predictions
The Panthers in the Super Bowl in ALL Of those????
I mean I think they are a solid team....but common. They have no running back, I love their defensive line, but I think their secondary is a little vulnerable too. I think they are a good, but they just seem to be everyones "defult" pick for the Super Bowl.

Re: Football mags predictions
I think DeAngelo is going to blow up though. He would have been my number one pick for RB in this year's draft.

Re: Football mags predictions
I don't have a problem with the Panthers pick for a Superbowl contender. They have a solid QB, picked up Keyshawn to help take some of the presure off Steve Smith, as Malcom said their RB situation could be a pleasant suprise, defense is pretty solid all the way around and their coaching seems to be solid as well. I have not looked at their schedule, but N.O. twice, Atlanta twice, and Tampa twice is tough, but not as tough as the NFC East.
The Skins get them in Week 12, which could be a big matchup at that point in the season. |

Re: Football mags predictions
Just go back to their 2005 predictions and you'll see why it's such a pointless exercise.

Re: Football mags predictions
the picks I found the craziest were Philly & Pitt repeating.
Pittsburgh will have a tough time winning their division this year. They're going to lose to each team in the division. And don't forget about the ravens, they are going to be a sleeper team if Mcnair stays healthy. I actually see Balt. & Cincy battling it out for that division, which may be a tougher one than we can tell at this point. For some reason I think Pitt. will have hard luck this year, maybe because they already have. I hope more people pick the boys to win the division. the more we can be an underdog the better. Carolina is a quality team but doesn't something seem missing? I don't know what it is but it seems they just lack the personality & look of a champion. Denver is back w/Javon Walker. It should be them & Indy in the Afc championship. Top 2 teams in the nfc? that's anybody's guess at this point. |

Re: Football mags predictions
i dont see the steelers repeating, either. everything went almost perfect for them last year and the odds on that happening again are probably next to zero. let dallas be the trendy pick because last year arizona and minnesota were the hot picks and we all know how that ended up

Re: Football mags predictions
We always say this but it bears repeating, they need something to write about just like we need something to talk about.
There's nothing wrong with predicting, it doesn't mean jack, except maybe to gamblers.
