How many years does Ducket have left on his contract?

He's a UFA at the end of the year. I'm betting we extend his deal though.

The only thing I don't like about the trade is that Duckett is in his last year of his contract and we gave up a third round pick. It is a risky move?

Re: We traded for T.J. Duckett?

I like it a lot.

Keeper running backs: Portis, Betts, Duckett, Sellers, White Jr, and either Lumsden or Nemo with the other on practice squad.

Don’t think Rock is a keeper this year because of the numbers…We now have 3 runners that are better and a few others that may be better….and lordy they better not keep Rock over Sellers.

To me, it seems folks love Rock for his personality, so folks create reasons he's a keeper. My opinion is that we’ve seen Rock’s ability and know he isn’t good enough to start for the skins while we have a few young guys that may have the ability. Lumsden, Nemo, and While Jr. all MAY have the tools to become very good runners. The old standby, Special Teams, doesn’t make sense because the young linebackers we have that should fill in fine, and also appear to have starting potential.

Basically Rock is the 4th best runner on the team while the other runners may be better…so you keep the best 3 and the 3 with potential. And I get long winded…

This is one of the dumber moves I have ever seen. What the hell is wrong with Ladel Betts. And in cause our organization hasn't noticed yet, we have no depth on the OL or Secondary. Thats what we should be trading for. Flat out dumb. And i'm not surprised we pissed away another 3rd round pick.

In case you guys have missed it Betts has been pretty injury prone his entire career. That's not a good thing when our main guy Portis is also banged up. Does anyone really want Rock Cartwright getting 25 carries per game?

That's a good point, Betts does seem to have problems with assorted injuries contrary to his college career where he was injury free. It could be that there are problems working out an extension for Betts who will be a FA at the end of the season. On the contrary Duckett will also be a FA so I'm really concerned about how this is going to pan out long term. I like the trade but someone has to go, so it's going to be interesting in th coming weeks to see who stays and who goes.

Then we have one very good RB and two decent backups.

I like Duckett, he's a solid goal line RB in my humble opinion. But I don't think we really need him. Not because we have Betts, but because we have Sellers

If it turns out the Portis is alright, we could always trade him, or another back, for a lineman. It looks like Broughton could be on his way out with another fumble.

If Cartwright is such a cog on special teams, do we carry 4 backs in a game?

Riggo you are right, Gibbs does love the big back. I think when Gibbs won the fight with Bobby Beathard to bring Riggs to DC, it was the last straw and Beathard left the team after that year. But we did win the SB the next year. This will be a good year, as TJ can run the rock.

SUPERBOWL OR BUST!!! ALL YOU LAME DOUBTERS WILL NOW REALIZE WE ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH MEDIOCRE... SNYDER/ GIBBS WILL DO WHAT IT TAKES TO BRING THE LOMBARDI TO WASHINGTON, AND NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!

As for those who think Duckett is not worth a third ATL has had the best running game overall the past to 2 seasons and with AL Saunders as our Head Coach Offense noone will be able to stop this offense when the season comes around!!!!

because of dunn and vick. duckett sucked in that offense.

I don't really like it, but i guess it means that portis is hurt a bit worse than initially thought or that the nemo/manny white/lumsden experiment is over. then again, they might just not be playing lumsden on purpose so they can practice squad him without concerns of having him picked off.

i hate how we never have any draft picks :/

i'd like to hear byner or bugel explain the move, since gibbs and saunders are politicians and completely worthless for information.
