Re: Clinton Portis Week 1 Injury watch

I’m not sure what to think, Joseph White of AP reported…(posted Sept. 2)

Gibbs said RB Clinton Portis (shoulder) and CB Shawn Springs (abdomen) are the only players whose availability is in serious doubt for the opener. "Most of the other guys are ready to roll," Gibbs said

I hope he is ready, but if not 100% let him sit. No need to risk further injury. I think we can beat the Vikes with Betts and Duckett.

I hope thats a sick joke...

I am gonna have to strongly disagree with you. There is a huge difference between what Clinton and LaVar are doing/did, and I think that is an appropiate comparision to illustrate how what you are saying, will never happen.

They are/were franchise players, both got hurt, and both complained to the media. So on paper, this looks like the same deal, and therefore Portis would be off the team too, right? Wrong. Portis has no problem with the coaching staff, and even though he said something about playing, it was due to frustration of his injury, shit I would too. If you were a superstar, and you got hurt in a meaningless game, you would be pissed, but you would be too scared to speak your mind, well Portis is not scared. Obviously Portis knows he was gonna play, and if didn't get hurt it is no big deal, but that was emotion you all heard. The coaches have no problem with that at all, and we need him to win. We did not NEED LaVar to win, that is the main difference, and that is why Portis won't be traded.

It is also because his injury really is not that serve. I compared his injury to Palmer's in another thread, and most people are not worried about Palmer, they think his knee will hold up instead of Portis's shoulder? Obviously Palmer is much more likely to get hurt, but people think Portis is done, and Palmer is gonna be the MVP.

My point is that we need Portis to win, and his injury is not that bad, therefore he is staying lol. I can not believe I am actually arguing, I really do not know how one can think he will be gone. If Portis is benched, we do not need him to win, then we can talk about this(which won't happen), otherwise this really cannot be a legit arguement.

I was at the guy's house when he picked up over stuffed chairs OVER HIS HEAD. There is nothing "more" to the injury. I aint no doctor but if you have a shoulder injury that is serious then I am pretty sure you aren't picking up 100 Lb chairs over your head.

I work for a company that does casino parties and he hired us for his family party. There were a few Skins there...mostly the RBs and WRs. Everyone was really nice and his family is super cool. His dad was cooking ribs and fed us. The players were totally cool. It was just a chill party for his best family and best friends on the team I am guessing. One thing to note is that Rock Cartwright is totally small. The dude isn't even 5'6" but is built like a f*cking brick sh*t house. Absolutley like a 90 inch chest. A total monster. Very impressed.

As for Clinton he showed no effects of the shoulder injurty and in fact, as stated before, did several lifting of heavy chairs that would presummably prove his shoulder is doing nicely. I am no doctor but unless they decide they don't NEED him then I don't see him sitting. Maybe he gets limited bangs but he'll play. He's a gamer anyways.

Oh yeah his house is ricockulous. We were in the game room which is the bottom floor of the guest house. Needless to say it was ginormous and I didn't get to see the real house in back.

Someone kill this thread!!! I seriously doubt Clinton is going anywhere. He IS GIBBS GUY!! Thats why Clinton can get away with what he said and Lavar was ostrisized (lol). Clinton is Gibbs favorite guy here. I think that was a ridiculous statement with no inside knowledge at all.

Riggins was one of the worst team guys and Gibbs kept him around because he was his best option, and I don't think you can compare one statement made by Portis and the constant pain in the ass Riggins was to Gibbs.

Here's My prediction: Clinton Portis does not play in next years preseason, but suits up in Burgandy and Gold week one.

Portis wont have more than two carries a game thats for sure. i dotn think Edge has had more than 2-3 carries a preseason game in years.

I would like that too, CP is needed (although I like to suit in wh on wh). He is Gibbs' boy, hell nobody can gain acceptance to team if CP isnt on the council, and all the screen shots of CP and Gibbs hugging and jumping up and down on the sidelines was genuine. But what was revealed to me and what effect his injury played is minor compared to the outcome of speaking out against Gibbs. Same thing happened in Denver. How do you think I feel 4 months ago I spent $300 on a CP jersey. Does anyone think this team doesnt still have needs??
QB,OL,CB's. Im still in denial about it but I believe thats the course of action that will be pursued. Watcg.

I don't see how Portis couldn't be ready by now.

The problem is with that is he only had one carry this preseason. have you noticed Ladanlian Thomlinson does not play in the preseason. That was my point.
