Re: The Moves We Should Make Next Year
Well, we know one thing, we won't be doing much in the draft.
We'll need to trim some fat off the roster and that will involve dumping some of the over 30 crowd. I guess we'll have to be aggressive in free agency again because what draft picks will we even have? |

Re: The Moves We Should Make Next Year
It's an ABSOLUTE MUST to land a top CB. That is priority 1, everything else is secondary to that.
We need linebackers out the wazoo. Andre Carter appears to be a big mistake, because while he can get around the edge (only a little bit) he can't stop the run to save his life. And Campbell needs to start playing to learn this offense.

Re: The Moves We Should Make Next Year
Maybe this is too general but...
Get younger (esp on d) Somehow get more draft picks if not next year the year after Re-think our front office philosophy |

Re: The Moves We Should Make Next Year
I agree with the general assessment given by the other posters. These are the moves I think we should make, in order of priority:
1. Start Campbell 2. Shutdown CB 3. Pass rushing DE

We need TWO shutdown corners. And we need TWO defensive ends and atleast 1 more DT to go with Griffin. Someone said we need linebackers...I think we are fine there

![]() If we got one shutdown corner and one legit pass rushing DE, the rest of our defense would improve greatly -- and we could use the money/picks on other stuff.

Holdman can't cover, and Marshall has been very lackluster this season. Hopefully Rocky develops into something, but if he doesn't, we're really hurtin at that position.

Re: The Moves We Should Make Next Year
I agree we could use some LB help. Hopefully Marshall can rebound and McIntosh will be the real deal. Otherwise we could be looking at an overhaul at LB.

Re: The Moves We Should Make Next Year
Why do you think so? He has done nothing to show me at this point, and with the sub par LB play, wouldn't he take over more if he was the real deal? I'm just curious as to what you think here, cause I thought he would be a great addition, now I am not so sure.

Re: The Moves We Should Make Next Year
I'm also for the Clements signing. If we have the cash to get him, I'm ALL over that. If we could also get some picks possibly, I'd maybe draft a QB in the late rounds and then sign a vet from another team.

Leftwich is too inconsistent.
Next year is Campbell's time. |

...and injury prone.
Yep Campbell will be the man next year and hopefully for 8-10 years afterwards. We haven't had a long-term QB since Theismann played for 11 years for us. Top priority should be DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE! A few CBs, a LB or two and maybe some more reserve linemen. A kicker we can rely on would help too, if Novak doesn't work out. Our offense is solid with good playcalling. |

This just makes me nervous. Most everyone here (minus myself and a couple others) said Ramsey was the man and will be for years to come. He wasn't. We need to come up with a backup plan for the QB position. I'm not saying Campbell will not become the man, but we have shown and should know by now, the QB position is the most important position on the field. It's hard to find a Brett Favre, or Peyton Manning type QB, so do what the Pats did...find a back up plan and maybe he'll be the next Tom Brady. Never stop looking for talent at the QB position...it's never enough.

Campbell has the tools to be a great pro QB. The only abilities Ramsey had were the ability to lose the game and the ability to lose his job. I was NEVER confortable with him playing for us. Sure he can throw the ball far...you could get a guy off the street that can do that. I do agree with you, it wouldn't hurt to have another QB to back up Campbell, but I wouldn't draft one with our other needs. Plus, we don't want to have a backup who isn't developed yet as Campbell has been developed and prepared. We should go after a young backup like Volek or Schaub. We also don't want Campbell to get the feeling we're replacing him with another draft pick. I hope we don't keep Todd Collins for our #2 next year, assuming Brunell retires...which may not happen. Having Brunell as Campbell's backup would be fine with me next year, however, we can't rely on that for more than a year...so a backup plan for the future IS needed. |

Re: The Moves We Should Make Next Year
Purely speculation, assuming we'll see jc at some point, but what about Matt Schaub from ATL or do we have too much tied up in JC? We've seen stranger things happen from the front office (i believe he'll be a FA).
I guess this is wishful thinking on my part. I'd like to see JC success first but none of us know what we have. I see Matt Schaub as a smart accurate passer that could do real well in a Saunders offense. |
