Re: Sugar bowl fiasco...not right!

LSU just got ripped off of a turnover on the replay, but luckily got it back a few plays later.

Those are all the independents in the NCAA div 1A. UConn is on it. It is possible that UConn is independant when it comes to football...like Temple is in the Atlantic 10 in Basketball.

That must be outdated. UConn is definitely in the Big East. Finished 4-8 this year (1-6 in conference play)

If you scroll down to the standings and schedule you can see the actual Independents are listed-Temple, Army, Navy, ND-no UConn

That is wierd how it shows UConn as an ind.
Like I have said before, I am a pro guru, not a college guru.

Apparently they are...
BIGEAST.org: The Official Site of The BIG EAST Conference

You must be looking at an outdated page. There was a brief span when they were between conferences (2000-2003) and were an independant. They've began playing in the big east in 2004.

Re: Sugar bowl fiasco...not right!

ND sucks! Charlie Wiess is overrated, and so is Brady Quinn! LSU would have destroyed them if they were playing in Sout Bend! No signature wins since Mr. Overrated has taken over the helm. Troy Smith should have swept every award possible at the college football awards, but no. They had to "give" Brady Quinn something. I don't think that it is too difficult to set all those passing records at a school that is historically known for running the ball. And don't give me that "Joe Montana went to ND" crap either. He handed the damn ball off too. LSU exposed Wiess and Brady for what they really are.......................OVERRATED!!!!!!!!!

Re: Sugar bowl fiasco...not right!

Who cares? I'm a Irish fan, and I'll be the first to admit that they don't even deserve to be in the Sugar Bowl. If there wasent an extra title game this year, I'd be suprised if they were even in a New Years day bowl. They beat no quality opponents and everytime they played a team that was worth anything, they got run out of the stadium. The only reason they are there is because they are Notre Dame.....again, coming from an IRISH Fan.

UMMM what? You must not be a real ND fan, cause they had a tough schedule.
Georgia Tech, Penn State, Mich. St., Purdue, UCLA and Navy. All of them had very good teams this year. They lost to top notch teams in Michigan and USC. (ps- UCLA beat USC) So why do they not deserve to be in the Sugar Bowl when they only lost to top notch contenders?

LOL!!!! Michigan State lost 8 of their final 9 games, and the last time Navy beat Notre Dame was when Staubach was QB. So they squeaked by an inconsistent GT team, beat an inexperienced PSU team early in the season, and took down an underachieving UCLA team. And they not only lost to Michigan and USC, they were completely demolished. That's not the same as slugging through the SEC, I'm sorry. Compared to what every other major conference team has to face that's pretty damn weak.

If you want to argue they are a top 25, or even top 15 team, that's fine, but they had no business being in a BCS bowl. What LSU did to them was painful to watch. They just didn't have the talent to stand toe to toe with those guys.

I like how you found massive flaws in Ga. Tech, Penn St., Navy, and UCLA..but completely ignored that Michigan and USC (and LSU) all were top 5 teams.

In the wake of OSU getting demolished in the title game, would it be unreasonable to say that the three BEST teams in College Football this year were Michigan, LSU, and USC? Certainly Florida (and Ohio State) should be in that discussion, but I'm not sure they would have beaten ANY of those teams.

We don't know very much about Notre Dame. We know they weren't talented enough to run with some of the powerhouses this year. But if you think they are overrated, consider that they are rated 17 right now. Are you going to tell me that there are 16 NCAA teams better than them when they were undefeated against teams not in the Top 6?

Sorry buddy, you don't get credit in my book for playing a top 5 team if they demolish you. Mississippi state played some tough teams too you know. You look at the wins. My argument, which I stand behind, is that ND doesn't have any impressive wins. We know that much about them.

BTW, do you really expect a serious answer as to whether or not Michigan is a top 3 team? You do realize that OSU played Michigan right? And won? That's the most ridiculous item of the day.

Re: Sugar bowl fiasco...not right!

I'd agree that they don't necessarily belong there. They wouldn't be #11 in the country if they weren't Notre Dame. And they probably wouldn't be in this game if they weren't Notre Dame.

Also, what's with NY guys being Notre Dame fans?

I guess you can consider it our local team, because its the only football team we see on TV each week (even though everyone does). We dont get any of the local divison I teams (Syracuse or UB) here in Rochester, so ND has been easy to follow.

If you're referring me being one of the NY ND fans, I'm from Boston, not NY.

They were on TV every week, and literally the ONLY college football I was exposed to when I was young...it was a natural fit.

Re: Sugar bowl fiasco...not right!

Didn't matter where this game was played. ND was outclassed on the field by a MUCH better football team.
