Everybody wanted Branch but 1. Like me, the coaches know we don't need a DT as badly as a DE and, 2. it turns out Branch is lazy.

I still say they should trade down though.
You do realize that Andre Carter was drafted #7 overall. Adams may turn out the same way (<---interpret that any way you would like).

No way, if it weren't for him we would have had the #1 Defense.

Like I said, they should try to try to trade down.

If they do though, don't be surprised when the Fedayeen start saying, "We could have had Adams! Fire the FO", as he puts up huge sack numbers for some other team. Also, I realize it's college and its the ACC but when I watched Adams, his play and his physical presence bear no resemblance whatsoever to Ande Carter. Carter gets bulldozed regularly by one guy. Adams was double teamed all last year and didn't budge. And yes he played every down.

Besides, with Smoot in house to mentor him it will be on like Donkey Kong.

On machine gun, like the SAW or something.

Let's convert him to goal line short yardage back.

People seem to have the idea that Adams is an Andre Carter clone. Not so. He can take Daniels' spot and play every down. If Carter is still a bust, Daniels and the others would share time at the other side.

That's becasue he's about the same size as Carter. But if the guy can play then it does not matter how much he weighs. I assume that he will put on weight anyway.

two 260lb DEs are NOT going to stop the run. carter can't, and gaines "i won't lift at the combine cause it'll hurt my draft stock" adams probably won't either.

I didn't know he bitched out on the bench press. Terrible. But then again Charles Hayley never lifted weights so.....

Just so you know, the bears who had one of the best run stopping defenses in the league had Adawale Ogunleye on one side and Alex Brown on the other

Alex Brown:6'3" 260
Ogunleye:6'4" 260

teams only averaged 99.4 rush yards a game against them, so that threory that you need a large defensive end to stop the run sort of goes out the window. Sorry im just tired of hearing that Gaines is to small, he was great all through college. And for the person that was complaining about him not bench pressing, come on, do you really think that matters, just ask the eagles about a guy named Mike Mamula, probably the greatest "combine" player of all time.

we don't have urlacher or briggs, we don't have vasher or tillman, and we don't have tommy harris and tank johnson. look at the colts run D with two light DEs... there's just a bigger likelyhood they'll get run over.

Hey, hey, TG, haven't you heard? We are on the verge of signing big time London Fletcher, don't worry about the opposing running game Fletch has got thier backs.

I don't know how you pass on a man of his size that can jump 36 inches in the air. I think S. Taylor can do like 39. Forget the weight. He will be an absolute beast. I disagree that he is a project. I think he starts and plays every down right away.

And Spudd Webb played professional basketball, but that doesn't mean that height doesn't matter in the NBA.

There are smallish DEs who can play both the pass and the run (e.g., Jason Taylor). BUT, scouts care about a DE's size for a reason...for all the non-Jason Taylor DEs, weight does matter when you've got a 320lb. guard or tackle bearing down on you and you weigh 60 lbs. less.
