Re: Your Opinion on this Draft Scenario...

The trade with Buffalo would be great. I figure out of 8 picks we should be able to get 2 that contribute in their rookie season. Also, I'd like to get Carricker, but 12 is a bit of a reach.

Why does every think that Carriker is a reach at 12 or that he might fall to the end of the first round? He very well won't make it past San Francisco at #11 as he is one of the few DEs in this draft who is big enough to play end in a 3-4 scheme. If the Skins could fall to 12 and have a shot at any of the top DLmen who might fall there (Carriker, Okoye, Branch being the most likely...with Kirwan's latest mock having Branch still available there) that would be pretty sweet, especially if it also got us a high second or two thirds. Hopefully the Bills would be interested in making such a move to get Peterson (probably) as that is the first sensible trade I've heard yet. Not sure it is really all that great for Buffalo, though, so maybe it won't go down or maybe it would end up being like the 12th, a 3rd, and the 2008 3rd round pick they got from BMore in the McGahee trade.

I think, I think, Carriker would look good in the old B + G. Even so, I think we'd be better off taking one of the big 3 DTs if we trade down. Carriker's good, but players of his mold can be found in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. He's not a can't miss prospect.

Re: Your Opinion on this Draft Scenario...

I think we could trade with Atlanta to get the 8 spot, still get Okoye, and grab an extra draft pick in the process. They want Laron Landry. And they can have him for sure if they snag the 6 spot. The question is, will they be willing to do it? A lot of people seem to think Landry will be there at 8. If we can't find any trade partners for the 6th pick, either take the flavor of the week (to quote SmootSmack) D-lineman, or pull a draft-and-trade deal with a team below us who wants someone we can snag....

Re: Your Opinion on this Draft Scenario...

By all accounts, it sounds as if the front office wasn't impressed with Anderson or Adams.

The best case scenario would be for either Quinn, Peterson or LaRon Landry to be available at #6. Then we should have no problem trading down.

I want a defensive tackle and a defensive end with our first two picks, no matter where they happen to be.

Re: Your Opinion on this Draft Scenario...

I like the last option with Buffalo... It seems like it's been a while since our Redskins made a deal to acquire picks
I personally would trade with the Patriots (they want Landry) give them our 6th selection in the first round. For both of their late first round selections (24 and 26 I think)...
Jared Allen DE Kansas City could be traded for... give the Chefs our latest first round and a 3rd round pick from next year...
Then take Carriker or Branch (which ever is available with the earliest 1st round selectin from New England)...
To me... This bolsters up our MAIN WEAKNESS... Def. Line "Lets put pressure on the QB and stop the run!!! Just like the glory days...

Re: Your Opinion on this Draft Scenario...

If we stay at 6 I think we should really pick Anderson or Adams. However, it wouldn't surprise me if the selection would go on Landry too.
The Buffalo scenario is the most beautiful for us, at least we get another day one pick...

By staying at 6 I want Gaines Adams or Jamaal Anderson, possibly Okoye. I dont want Alan Branch, he takes to many plays off.

Moss looks like a better version of Charles Mann coming out of college. He should develope into a force within 2 years.

Re: Your Opinion on this Draft Scenario...

ill take landry at 6......but i like the trade with the bills at 12 taking carriker then with the third round pick taking eric weddle if he is still there...if he isnt there i wouldnt mind the tennesse dt turk mcbride. mcbride is a little undersized at 280 but he is a stone cold beast of a player and could add weight very easily.

Not at all. Despite Landry's near certain pro bowl caliber talent, our safety situation will go as Sean Taylor does, with or without Landry. Seems kind of pointless to draft a safety only to watch offenses pick on the other safety.

And if Sean Taylor can establish himself as a feared cover man in this league, really, what would be the point of Landry then? It would just remove any possibility of us finding a hidden gem at the safety postion, and finding hidden gems is the only way to restore this defense quickly.

Put simply, we just have to get lucky, and not do stupid things like draft 2 top 6 safeties in 4 years.
