As for salary cap relief, we get none.
I havent heard that the Broncos or NE got any extra picks for the players on those teams that died. I dont think we ever will. Free agency and off-field deaths are entirely different things.

I remember in the 80 when the Steelers drafted a guy named Gabe Rivera. He was their 1st round draft pick, played 1 (maybe 2) seasons and was awesome. They called him Senor Sack because he was sacking QBs left & right. He was paralyzed in a car crash and lost to the Steelers forever. The NFL gave them nothing in terms of draft picks.

Its just something the Skins will have to live with and make the best of.

We could never replace ST, but I will say if LL continues to play like he played last week he will be the closest to ST we could ever get.

Great defenses are made up of a lot of moving parts. Yes you need a good CB, FS and SS, but you also can make up for weakness in those areas with a good pass rush, which the Skins have not really had in a long time. Go get another good DE or Monster DT and don't worry about replacing ST for right now. Landry is going to be great not just good, so find someone to complement him and get better upfront. Our LBs are pretty good, no need to do anything there except maybe long term for M Washington.

I want to make another comment about replacing ST...... What would it be like if the Skins had an Albert Haynesworth type player (Titans) in the middle of the D-Line? (Not in additude mind you, but as a player) We need to get better upfront. Give me some Run-Stopping-control-the-line-of-scrimage player over a knockout Safety and watch how fast our D gets better.

Excellent point. The best way to improve your team is to improve both the offensive and defensive line. Skilled players all of sudden start looking a lot better when the quarterback has time to throw, running backs have big holes to run through, wide receivers have time to get open, linebackers don't have to shed blocks to get to the ball carrier and the secondary can anticipate hot reads because the quarterback doesn't have time to go through all his options. Damn I should be a GM.
