Re: Pro Bowl 2008
I would agree on the pick here, Barber has been unstoppable except for us. He's had a great season and is worthy of the pick. My man Portis has probably had about 3 or 4 good games even thought he's over 1000 yards.

Re: Pro Bowl 2008
But you forgot, there's CONSTANT coverage of how hardcore Barber is.
You must NEVER forget that. When someone is as hardcore as the media says he is, you HAVE to understand that. Popularity = talent.

Re: Pro Bowl 2008
I don't know. I think Barber is a good back, but for as much coverage on how hard he runs, I see a lot of people hitting him and stopping him for VERY few yards after contact. Both him AND JJ have a high YPC. I think it's more of having THREE offensive linemen making the Pro Bowl.

Bottom line, I'll take Portis over Barber all day and all night long.

Re: Pro Bowl 2008
I've watched Barber all year and that guy runs with no disregard for his body, there's no quit on him. He's an overachiever and is as tough as nails. I would still take Portis over Barber but you have to give credit to him even if his OL helped him tremendously. I wouldn't mind having Barber on our team.

Re: Pro Bowl 2008
Portis has more yards, one less TD. Barber only beats him in YPC. I still think that's crap. Not to say Clinton should have made it either, but damn Barber?!
Just like Barber, Hamlin has had a "good" reason, but not a Pro Bowl worthy one.

Re: Pro Bowl 2008
If he'd gotten in over Westbrook I'd say it was a travesty. I don't really think Portis has had a season worthy of a Pro Bowl nod. That he didn't get in after the 2005 season is the real snub. If we weren't basing the thing on name recognition and the amount of Cowboy fans there are I'd say Ernest Graham actually might have deserved an invite over Barber. Still, there weren't a lot of dominant backs in the NFC this year. Apart from Westbrook and Peterson (both of whom have also missed time to injury) there really wasn't a clear cut #3.

Re: Pro Bowl 2008
I am glad ST got the starting nod. He deserved it and hopefully the NFC can honor him by pulling a Grilliams and start the game without a Free Safety.

Re: Pro Bowl 2008
I think the biggest WTF is that Jonathan Ogden is on the AFC's roster. He's only played in 9 games this season and the line that he anchors keeps allowing their QBs to get injured.
Then again, it is really all about reputation.

Re: Pro Bowl 2008
Agreed - how did Addai get in over Fred Taylor? Addai, one of five Colts on the AFC squad, has 1,019 yards rushing, 72 yards fewer than Taylor and an average of 4.1 yards per carry, a full yard less than the 31-year-old Jacksonville star. |
