I would be surprised if we did it(trade for Cutler). Zorn just gave that interview saying JC was the man ,etc. If Danny and Vinny went for Cutler now it would mean the whole organization is out of sync, unless that is Zorn was lying through his teeth and going along with his boss. |

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
« Marshall’s fantasy value falling for next season
Titans claim Redskins tampered with Haynesworth » Around The Web Redskins actively pursuing Cutler Posted: Around The Web | NFL.com Staff | Tags: Jason Campbell, Jay Cutler, Vinny Cerrato, Washington Redskins A decades-long pursuit for a franchise quarterback might lead to the Washington Redskins making a trade for disgruntled Denver Broncos QB Jay Cutler. The Redskins were actively pursuing a trade for Cutler on Wednesday, reports The Washington Post, citing NFL sources. The NFL source told The Post that Redskins owner Dan Snyder has been pushing for the trade. However, the Redskins are declining to comment. The Redskins figure to be competing with the Buccaneers and Jets at this moment, but Washington does have one advantage — it has a starting NFL quarterback, Jason Campbell, to dangle in a trade. Often lost in the Cutler trade talk is who will be the Broncos’ starting QB in 2009. Four NFL.com editors kicked around that issue in an Instant Debate. Redskins executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato and coach Jim Zorn publicly denied interest in Cutler during the annual NFL owners meeting last week. But that might just mean they are smoother than Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and coach Josh McDaniels when talking about potential trades. The Post updated its initial report by saying the Redskins offered Campbell to an undisclosed team for a second-round draft pick. The Redskins are believed to be acquiring picks to build a package for Cutler. That could indicate that the Broncos don’t want Campbell and might be comfortable with Chris Simms or a rookie in the upcoming draft as their starter.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
I hope the Lions get him. I don't want a greedy prima-donna leading this team. I'm pretty sure we can have the ground work to be a sucessful team (in 2 years time probably) w/out Cutler as our QB.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
dude this team is built for winning now!! You can't wait for 2 or 3 more years, plus campbell is already in his mid to late twenties its time to stop giving him the (young) excuse!!

Yeah, you're right. We should trade a lot of valuable crap for someone who is younger, less-mature, and has a shorter fuse. That's how you build for the here and now!

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
We all have our opinion on Cutler but let's bottom line this. Do you think we'll be in on the trade talks? I know Zorn said Campbell is our guy, but Dan Snyder owns this team so anything can happen. I personally don't want to give up on Campbell. I really like him but I sense the temptation to make another big splash may be too much for Snyder to resist. I hope he exercises some restraint and uses the draft this year. I know we have 5 picks (w/ the compensatory pick), but he can trade down and be creative.
HAIL!

Campbell isn't the "ONE" Tripp, never was, never will be. He is a decent QB, that will never get this team past maybe the wild card round at best. Sure he has had to learn a lot of new systems, but that is the least of his shortcomings. Not too many folks outside of Skins fandom thinks he is all that either, and I agree. He is good, but not a franchise QB type of guy. I rooted for Gus when he was here, but he didn't get the job done, I rooted for Ramsey too, but he didn't get the job done, and then I was pissed at Gibbs for keeping the fossil Brunell in instead of giving JC a chance. Face it, we have been stuck with subpar to average quarterbacking since Rypien left. That being said I think we do keep Jason this season and let him groom Colt for 2010 or 2011 or somehow draft one of the wonder kids in 2010. Cutler is an upgrade over Campbell, but could be more of a distraction than anything. We are better off keeping JC til we land another potential franchise QB or have Colt be the man in 2010 if he really shows promise. Another thing we have to realize is that this team has too many question marks offensively to really be a contender in '09 in my mind or even 2010. I won''t be surprised if we have to wait for Campbell's succesor's succesor til we get to be solid winners again. |

No one is asking you to believe Campbell is going to wrong all of our rights. Just stop passing off the cuff predictions as facts and making bizzare references to Gus Frerotte (the QB, not yourself). I seem to appreciate the groundedness that we're two+ QBs away from competing, but you obviously didn't arrive at that using anything sensible. I'm not sure what to think of your predictions anymore. You're either living 8-10 years in the past or the future.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
Like I've said time and time before if we don't pull the trigger on Cutler if he's available then it's our fault if we struggle on offense again this season! Jason is a decent QB and a nice guy but he is NOT a franchise QB and Cutler would make us a contender today! I hope we get him!!!!!!

I agree with your Campbell comments, but not sure if we should go for Cutler. He is not handling this thing in a professional manner. |
