If the mean something to the Giants, we'll lose. If the Giants are already eliminated, we probably win.

I wholeheartedly disagree. In all likelihood, Coughlin gets an extension if the Giants make the playoffs, which is good for the skins. If the Giants miss the playoffs, Coughlin's fired, Cowher is likely hired, and the Giants will be a really really good football team for the next 10-15 years. For the skins long-term benefit, we need to hope Giants make the playoffs and keep coughlin around another few years. That way, the Giants will stay mediocre and Cowher can go to an AFC team.

However, If the skins do win, then it makes me feel much more confident in our team. I realize its just a 1 game difference, a 7-9 team seems infinately better than a 6-10 team to me. We are what we are, but in my opinion, we're about as good of a 6-9 team as we could be now. In the 15 games we've played so far, we've either had the lead, or been within a score of taking the lead, in 13 of the 15 games we've played this year. If Shanahan can do that with the atrocious "talent" we have on our roster, imagine how well we would have played if he had inherited a halfway decent roster or there had been a decent free agent class this past offseason. if Shanahan can bring in a bunch of high-character, highly competitive, well-priced, slightly-above-average free agents (as opposed to one or vincent jackson/Larry Fitzgerald types, we could have a scary good team next year.

I don't think just getting to the playoffs necessarily saves Coughlin's job.

I disagree with everything bolded. Even if the Giants make the playoffs, short of another SB run, Coughlin's not getting extended. Ownership will let him go into a walk year and see what happens.

If the Giants miss the playoffs there's about a 35% chance he gets fired. Even if he does get fired, Cowher won't be the coach there. He doesn't fit the mold or culture of what they are about.

Finally, the Giants have owned us since Coughlin has been there (won like 9 of last 10) so it's not really a benefit if he's there.

New York Giants still stranded in Wisconsin due to a snowstorm - ESPN New York

This also should help some.

Yeah I'm kind of baffled as to why it's a good thing for Coughlin to remain in New York? The last success we had against the Giants was back in Gibbs II.

To be honest, we have never had good success against the Giants. Even when we were one of the best teams, they usually beat us.

It was about half and half. The Giants owned us pretty much during their Super Bowl years, but the Redskins beat them as well.
