But seriously how many times do we have to talk about the name change...

Thank god for the combine.

Can you imagine if we have a lock out? By next October we will be arguing about whether Miller Lite is less filling or taste great.

Im against any name change, I also love our Uniforms and the Logo and see no need to change any of it.

Re: Name change

I think the Washington Divas should have to change their name because it's offensive to opera singers.

Re: Name change

I think the harder the moral minority tries to change the teams name the more Snyder will fight against it. The only way it changes is if a judge tells Snyder it has to be changed. "If" that happens I would hope they simply change everything, meaning the team colors also. It just wouldn't be right to have to change the logo and name and keep the colors.

and if they ever are forced to make changes then I can only hope they pick up the colors Red, White, and Blue to follow suite with all the other teams in DC.... Caps and Nats. Rumor is the Wizards are supposed to be going back to original colors also.

Re: Name change

My concern with anyone wanting a change is "if" a change is ever made it would be my luck I'd hate the change and then we are stuck with it. So for all you talking about wanting change be prepared for a situation where you might be unhappy with whatever changes are made.

Personally I have rode the fence on the uni change, for this reason exactly. I'm happy with what we are wearing now, but a side of me would like to see an update. I imagine if the owner would spend less time throwing away draft picks and spend more time touching up the uni's he would make more money off the fans who just have to have the latest and greatest. I think a lot of people are becoming hesitant when it comes to buying players jerseys because they come and go so fast here.

Re: Name change

Never! A name change would be the single worst thing I could imagine happening to me in terms of my sports teams. I would not sign off on a name change even if you told me we would win the next 10 Super Bowls! I would rather lose as the Redskins then win under any other name! Next topic...

IS IT TIME TO CHANGE THE NAME?

I am in favor of changing the name. For racist reasons above all and secondly Dan Snyder's 'Redskins' don't deserve to be named after native americans or prestigious franchises of the past...

Let's change the name or sell or move the team. Bring back the name DIPS! That is what we are... Deion, Spurrier, Haynesworth, McNabb...
It's time to move this to THREAD HELL.

Never change it.

Re: Name change

The name links us to our heritage. Changing the name would be a major loss for the team and Snyder would lose $millions in having to change marketing/signs/etc.

Maybe it was wrong from the start to inherit the Braves than change it to Redskins, (what the redskins have to do with DC is beyond me) but its fiction.
I always loved The Senators but thankfully we didnt switch to the Nationals- (that name is pretty 'tarded)

It was changed when they were still in Boston and started playing at Fenway. Marshall like the connection between the Red Sox and the Redskins.

Also, I'm almost positive the Senators were originally called the Nationals.

thats pretty cool I didnt know that, i guess i kinda see where he was going with it.

I dont want the name changed but in time who knows what will happen. Im guessin 10 years before they changed "old glory" to "old DC", people thought it was just PC crap and it would never be changed either.

The pittance they'd spend in new signage (marketing is always changing so I dont see that as an increased cost) would be more than offset with the sales of new hats, shirts, mugs, etc.

As a historical note, even when Washington's baseball team was called the Senators their officical name was Nationals and had been since the 1860s. Charley Brotman took to calling them the Senators because he couldnt come up with a good logo for Nationals and then everyone started calling them the Senators. Nationals wasnt some name they pulled out of thin air.
