Cam Newton is like Sarah Palin in that you have folks that want to totally demonize them for the sake of selling copy. The thing is you have a ton of folks that don't like Cam because of the Auburn scandal and just eat up anything negative about him or just jump on anything that can be perceived as negative. That being said, I can see this guy being another Bush in a few years in having to give up his Heisman, etc. The NCAA needs to get out of sports altogether and let the different pro leagues just set up farm systems for football and basketball. Shoot, some of the more prominent FIFA squads in Europe have their own school system/academies with travel squads of every age group until age 18, where they become reservists for the big boys. The whole Terrelle Pryor mess and his and his teammates selling football awards for tattoos tells me how much they truly value their time in college or respect the program. No need to taint the college game for a bunch of thugs. Colleges and universites should be centers for learning and nothing more. |

Cam: A vacation Cam's Mom (interjects): ...much-needed Cam: A much-needed vacation Yeah, totally comparable with Ryan Leaf. /sarcasm ****ers.

Royster TD run.
I like how he breaks out of a log jam and sprints out.

It's going to be very easy rooting for this guy.

Re: Redskins 2011 Draftees
I like both his work ethic and attitude. The two combined will help make up for any deficiencies he may otherwise have.

And who cares if he looks a little scary, maybe thats what we need from a guy playing quite possibly the dirtiest position in the NFL. I think at worst we get a guy thats like Chris Hoke on the Steelers. The defense should be much improved this year. We already got better by leaps and bounds once Kemo and Golston were replaced by Holliday and Bryant late in the season and teams didn't have the luxury of running away from the one bright spot in Carriker anymore. Carriker-Bryant/Neild-Jenkins should help improve this defense further. Especially now that guys like Holliday and Daniels don't have to forced to do more then should. And who knows maybe we'll also end up with a healthy Kemo. Jarmon developing would also be a bright spot. Either way I think Neild will be one of my favorites on this team.

Re: Redskins 2011 Draftees
I know the team is not supposed to talk with players but I hope the team either invited some to camp when ever that is or plans to...
NFL.com news: Devlin tops list of best available undrafted players National Football League: NFL Draft 2011 - Terrence Toliver National Football League: NFL Draft 2011 - Ricardo Lockette -I like the comment about him being one of the fastest at 6-2, 211lbs and maybe they could work on his hands and dropping the ball. National Football League: NFL Draft 2011 - Joe Lefeged -I'm not saying he's great or anything but he was a K/P returner in college and was used to ***block kicks*** we could use that on special teams. |
