I'm liking how Ramsey has started to progress the past few games but he still has a lot of learning to do, so I'm not a 100% sold on this as of now. There's no telling what might happen between now and the beginning of next season but he hasn't shown that he should be handed the job no questions asked. I'm not saying we needed another huge signing, but I honestly don't think the patriots expected Tom Brady to be as good of a qb as he was when they drafted him in the 6th round that year and if someone out plays ramsey in the offseason next year then there's no reason there shouldn't be atleast somewhat of a competetion for the starting job. Handing someone a job for next season has a tendancy to leas to trouble and sometimes even complacency(sp?).

That's something that you don't see very often...Tom Brady just happens to be one of those special players that didn't need a very long time to adjust to the NFL...but most of the time, there is going to be a period of adjustment....such as Payton Manning..he didn't have an explosive year his first year...neither did Farve!

It is a very good thing to say that Ramsey is our guy for next season! That is a big confidence boost for Patrick and I think that will allow Gibbs and company to help further his development along and by doing so, it also develops the offense along as well.

If someone comes by and out plays Patrick Ramsey and wins the job...hey I'm not complaining; I just want the Redskins to win!

Excellent decision! Hopefully this will set alot of fans' minds at ease on the QB situation for next year. As far as Brunell goes, he seems like a nice guy who might stick around to be as a mentor to Ramsey; heck, it's not going to help us to get rid of him and it's still nice to have a veteran back-up with lot of game time experience. The ultimate thing though would be for Brunell to retire...I just don't think he's ready to do so yet.

Let's see how nice of a guy Brunell is, nice enough to restructure his deal perhaps?

i'm thinking that a big weight has been lifted off ramsey's back...even though he's played statistically better than brunell (who isn't?), he seems nervous or tentative at times. hopefully, having this fact out in the open will ease things for ramsey and we can see more of what he is really capable of.

Hey, Bobby Knight told Texas Tech not to pay him because he didn't get them to the tourny last year! You never know!

I think its good news. Let's build. Ramsey showed he was a pro when Brunell got the start. He hung in there and supported the team. Now the team is stepping up for him. He's not there yet, but he's definetly shown he's got the potential to flourish in GIbbs offense. Let's get that o-line up to snuff, maybe add another TE, and lets roll!

Now let's see how the kid handles success! That can be tough too!

Great news!
Glad to see Gibbs giving credit were credit is due. Truthfully we start Patrick after game 3 and we're probably in the playoffs already by this point.

Just Great news. Ramsey needs more experience and you can only get that one way. On the field. he's already winning games for us so he should only get better. Plus with an entire training camp next year with him as the starter . As I said he can only get better.

Plus the stability for the team. Great decision by coach Gibbs.

Gibbs=STABILITY and CONSISTENCY....everyone needs to pack their bags or at least have them ready in the next 12-24 months because the train to the promise land is going to be leaving!

I'm not so sure if starting PR earlier in the year would have made a difference.

He looked totally lost in the preseason and he admitted his confidence hit an all-time low.

I'm thinking Gibbs knew he needed to build Patrick back up a bit before throwing him in to the fire, and he also needed to grasp the offense better.

Putting him out there earlier in the year when he still didn't have a firm grasp of the offense could have buried his confidence even further and done more damage than good.
