Exactly I like this way more... you get a young guy with not much wear and tear cheap because he will be your starter for the next 5 years at 5 mill per year

You say that, but Bowen is YOUNG AND UNPROVEN. He has potential BUT I'd rather have a known commodity, than a guy w/ upside. Not saying he won't be a good player, but C. JENKINS IS A PROVEN 3-4 DE. Therefore he's more deserving of a payday than Bowen. IMO

I think Cofield is the known commodity and he's younger than Jenkins. I applaud the FO for not overspending on C. Jenkins if they are not getting him.

Oh, you mean like Albert Haynesworth? ...no wait

Donovan McNabb?...no wait

Jeremiah Trotter?...no wait

Adam Archuletta? ...no wait

Dana Stubblefield?... no wait

Antwaan Randle El?...no wait

Brandon Lloyd? ....no wait

I'm sure I can add quite a few more of "proven" guys we brought in here and paid rewarding for and got squat.

why is everyone saying this? he's 27 and hasn't really done anything. good players hit their stride in year 2 or 3. don't like this one at all.

Read up on some of the articles about him. The Cowboys were really counting on keeping him and he was going to be taking on a bigger role this year.

Bowens was an UDFA and, as such, took longer to develop. But reaching your prime is reaching your prime, whether that occurs in year 3 or year 6.

yeah, me neither - dude's started 11 games in 5 seasons and clearly hasn't made much of an impression. To give him as much money as they did is a little stupid in my book.

did you even look up which games he started? he was a backup until last year when he filled in due to injury and did a phenominal job. IMO this is the best FA signing we've done thus far. VERY happy about this one.

Still, i am a bit interested to know who our starters along the Dline will be. i know its possible bowen, j jenkins, and cofield could all rotate in at NT, these three are all better suited to play DE... as is carriker. the way i see it, we've got several good DEs but not a single true NT. if we can fill this hole while we groom Nield, our pass rush is going to be INSANE this year.

would be nice to get A. Franklin too instead of also adding C.Jenkins. Dline is a good place to tie up a lot of money and have depth to keep legs fresh

Well, he's 3 years younger than C. Jenkins. Perhaps it was a "buy the younger guy" kind of deal.

Revamping the line certainly. Not seeing a lot of run-stuffers in the new group though.

The front 3 really need to occupy the OL in the 3-4 allowing the LBs to make plays.

Re: Redskins sign DE Stephen Bowen

Dallas fans seem to be high on him. He had been a backup but a productive one.

Interesting development, because Dallas was our competition for Cullen Jenkins.

I do not think this ends our chances...we have money to spend, Dallas has been scrambling to get under the cap enough just to re-sign a couple of guys like Doug Free.
