Re: Most surprising cut?
Most surprised by Wilds. We need a good dimeback and Wilds have better cover skills than Jimoh...IMO.
Most disappointed by McCune. I guess I bought into the hype and expected him to be at least a backup MLB. |

I personally voted for McCune because he did have the tangibles and I believe in the coaching staff. I thought that they saw something in him and if that "something" was there, he could be special given his tangibles. |

Re: Most surprising cut?
McCune was definitely overhyped because of his impressive appearance, but then again that was the book on him coming out of college. The experts said he was a workout warrior and somebody would fall in love with that aspect and take him.

But at the same time many teams (and fans) make the mistake of falling in love with players that look the part, but maybe aren't as impressive on the field. McCune needs work. Probably more work than the coaches thought he would need. He's raw and and that was the book on him coming out of college, but I think alot of fans looked past that and the only thing they saw was his physical attributes and figured this guy has got to be a baller. The main thing with him right now is his mental game isn't anywhere near his physical game, but once it catches up he could be a quality player. |

Re: Most surprising cut?
I wasn't surprised with any of them. No starters amongst the cuts. No starters re-signed to the PS. I abstained from the vote since "No surprises" was not a choice.

Re: Most surprising cut?
Not terribly surprised by all the cuts, just disappointed that some of them weren't eligible for the PS. I picked Warner since it would seem to make more sense having a 5th DE instead of a 5th DT. I'm still not sure why we kept Killings and Boschetti, but at least we have Aki Jones on the PS. Sheesh, we have six DTs when you count the PS and only four DEs, one of whom is injury prone. Maybe Chris Clemons will spend some time as a pass-rushing end like Lavar.

Re: Most surprising cut?
Ok. Glad to see that the coaches saw that Groom was keeper. I'm cool with Keasey making the squad too because he has good size, 6' 0" 236lbs, speed, heart, and is supposedly picking up the schemes well (also, on Madden he'll have the blonde dreads hanging out the back of his helmet). Wilds blew some assignments big time in the preseason closer so it's understood why his leash was so short. I'm still unsatisfied with our DEs. Greg Williams may be too, but he will work with the talent we already have. None of these guys have the pass rushing skills and moves of a premier DE and that includes Arrington. That's the reason L.A. is used as a DE on 'passing downs' and equally the reason he's not effective at it. The 3-3-5 formation suits our players' strengths more. Maybe the previously injury riddled Nic Clemons will live up to his #90 jersey (I nearly torched mine when Kenard Lang left to go play for his old college coach who by the way is out of the league(?)

We could be in for a treat- besides I don't think Wynn and Daniels have played a full season together yet. Aki Jones could be someone they are hoping will develop sooner rather than later. Stay tuned... |

Re: Most surprising cut?
Lang has actually dropped some weight and converted to LB.

Re: Most surprising cut?
For me it was Warner. I thought he was a very bright spot last season on our defense, and I thought he was really an up and coming player. Someone must be better than him, though, so thats always good news.

I'm guessing they chose evans over him because evans is a better tackler and 4 years younger. |

Re: Most surprising cut?
Or filling in on 3rd down at LB when Arrington lines up on the line?
The only surprise, if you can call it that, for me is Farris. Whilst he's not exactly lit things up, I consider him a better option than Brown at WR. Brown is on the roster as KR not as a WR. I think any more injuries at WR (i.e. Jacobs) and we'll be scouting around for depth again. |
