Anyone trying to argue that we aren't a better now than at this point last year is delusional. Every stat including the one that some people (with good reason) point out as the only one that matters, wins and losses, has improved. Were are 2 wins/17% "better". And against a more difficult schedule. Of the secondary stats(ie: offensive and defensive stats) we have improved in every notable offensive category while weakening a bit in almost as many defensive categories. Injuries have taken a beating on the defense plus the loss of Pierce and Smoot has adjusted our depth a bit. I'd say overall though it is clear our offense has gotten better more than our defense has gotten worse. We're better overall plain and simple. Now hopefully we continue to improve and turn this improvement into something that matters like 4 more wins.

I think that we miss Pierce alot more on D than we thought we would. He was the leader of our D and spent long hours in the film room which has hurt our D. I think Williams will realize that it has hurt our D and do a better job to remedy this problem. I was one who thought he would strugle in the Giants system and that Williams would have no problem replacing him but I was wrong.

Ahhhh, the beauty of free agency!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think Pierce is missed. However, I think Williams, and the boys knew EXACTLY how much, and what problems it would cause.
They weighed the variables, and issues and collectively ELECTED to let him go. Everything that goes on within the organization, right or wrong is planned, practiced, discussed, cussed, hashed, rehashed, etc. It ain't no coin toss

From a Stats perspective, I think we will end up better defensively by the end of the year. I don't see any of our remaining games being very high scoring, no matter wheither we win or lose. I hope Gibbs continues the "Rushing" attack we saw against the Rams. Especially against the Cardinals this week. That kind of a game plan really speeds up the game because it eats clock and reduces plays. If the result of the drives equal TDs then it becomes demoralizing for the other team. The skins had a couple of really time consuming drives against the Rams because they ran so much.

Oh come on guys, we have won two close games we didn't last year. It's luck of the draw, but look at how many turnovers we had all of last year (27) and thus far this year (21) and the progress you see dissipates.

You realize that means we are on pace for just 28 turnovers this year, right? That's not really a compelling argument.

I don't understand your point about winning two more games this year not meaning anything.

I wasn't aware progress was simply measured by the number of turnovers. I agree that turnovers and mistakes are still very much an area for further improvement, but I just don't see how that can justify saying no progress has been made from last year to this year.

it's definitely progress. unfortunately these thing take time don't they? it's not like we're even out of it yet!!! and if we barely miss the playoffs, we'll definitely be in next year.

My point is this team is still making the same mistakes as last year and as such they haven't truly progressed. I guess we differ in that I would call 8-4 progress (achievable if it weren't for critical turnovers) where as 6-6 is just a romance comedy with some tragedy here and there.

What a load! Are you honestly telling me that you think this team isn't any better than last year? Do you actually watch the games?

Just my opinion, last year, we were lucky win what we did. This year, our opponents are lucky. Next year, they won't be! It's how you build a team

6-6 is progress....8-4 is a complete turn around.

They are moving the ball alright but would you call 2 more points per game better? Give me a break. This team isn't really that different from last year. Sure the ball gets moved quite a bit but when you turn it over it's all for null.

Here is how our team is different: WE HAVE SANTANA MOSS. That is the difference, and it's a big one. Jon Jansen instead of Ray Brown I'd say is an upgrade as well.
