Litto Sheppard? Maybe get him out of the disfunctional Raiders and he could help us out a little? Or Porter, Trufant though is getting older AND often injured, not a great combo.

For strong safety help what about Zbikowski from the Ravens? Hard hitter, good nose for the ball and does some nice things on special teams (however I am a total ND junkie so you should take anything I say about players from there with a grain of salt the size of a VW bug)

Eric Wright has been an underachieving #2 corner for the Browns and Lions. With all due respect, why would anyone want him? Better options from older plays on shorter contracts, who happen to be better.

ESPN Blogs NFC East ‏ @espn_nfceast

My 8 year old just asked me if the Amazon River freezes. No effing clue, but at least it wasn't a question about LaRon Landry.

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency Tracker

We don't need to address every position in this free agency market as of now. We can still draft a lot of good corners and guards and a safety. I am not sold on anyone that seems to be left. Unless you can get them for a reasonable price, which because they are corners probably won't work out. Draft the kid from montana as a safety/corner who might be there or the guard from Midwestern State. Also Webb from baltimore might be available if the Ravens can't get a contract and they have money issues right now. They probably will resign him though but crazy stuff does happen. We aren't going to be instant superbowl contenders so we can be patient enough now where we don't need to address every single issue this year. As long as Mike has a plan which he seems to I believe we will be better in the long run.

People need to chill with the CBs, I am sure we will get one. But right now safety sould be a slightly higher priority. I don't want to go with Doughty and Gomes as our starting safeties.

Sent from my Samsung Epic 4G.

Biggest problem with the way the Redskins are approaching the defense right now is that they are to an extent, being accepting of mediocrity on that side of the ball.

And the problem if you shoot for mediocrity -- and ask anyone who has watched our offense the last two or three years -- is that you typically don't get anything resembling mediocrity.

We need to either reinforce our strength (the linebacker level) or fix our weaknesses (secondary, safeties, corner depth, D-Hall). I realize we're too cap restrained to do both, but just pick one or the other and at least try to make an incremental improvement over last year.

I'm thinking the draft strategy has already been adjusted accordingly. I expect to see more defense than I orginially thought.
