Re: The coordinators

Saw a blurb that they are interviewing Rob Ryan. Honestly, if they hire him, that will really erode any faith I have with our "brain trust". The only coordinator I'd want less than Barry.

Per sources, the Redskins will be interviewing ex-Bill ass't Rob Ryan for their defensive coordinator opening.

Why even bring him in for an interview? I'm starting to wonder if coordinators are possibly running from this job due to the personnel. A bum coach like Rob Ryan will be ready to pounce on this job.

I'll be ticked, if we hire Rob Ryan. Jay Gruden will also find himself fired after the 2017 season.

Re: The coordinators

Nothing wrong with having some patience and wanting to interview multiple candidates, but Rob Ryan? Get outta here with that loser.

Re: The coordinators

Junior Galette loved playing under Ryan in New Orleans. And we all know the relationship between Galette and McCloughan. This might be due diligence following up on a player's suggestion.

We had interest in Wilks, too. The Norman connection.

I don't think there's any way they'd go with Rob Ryan. When you sit back and review resumes it makes no sense. Greg Manusky's record as the Colts and 49ers coordinator was better.

Don't overreact to an interview.

Re: The coordinators

I wonder, who is the genius at Redskins Park who actually wants to interview Rob Ryan for the DC position? It's like the circus has come to town. Rob Ryan is literally the last coach I would want as our DC. I can hardly freakin' believe it.

Re: The coordinators

Given philosophies, I wouldn't be shocked if they're starting to hone in on Pettine, and this Ryan interview may be coming under the auspices of DC interview, but really be more about kicking the tires on Ryan as a position coach under Pettine.

They're all from the same Rex Ryan tree.

Re: The coordinators

Its the Rooney rule.
You have to interview at least one fat slob per position.

That's an interesting take Schneed. Would be a very savvy move on the part of the front office if this is the case. Rob Ryan has become sort of a journeyman in terms of being a defensive coordinator. Would probably do him some good to step back to being a position coach for awhile.

They need to hire a DC already.....with Wade Phillips turning the job down and Gus Bradley apparently on his way to the Chargers, Mike Pettine is the strongest candidate right now.....

Re: The coordinators

Pettine would be my pick of the remaining candidates. But I'm not hearing him being interviewed by other teams. So until you start hearing that, I don't begrudge them at all for turning over every stone.

We don't know much about Tarver but the Rams probably thought that about McVay until they interviewed him.

If I were the Skins and I heard that Pettine had other offers then I'd scramble to put together an offer. On Bradley, that's a guy McCloughan and Gruden both know personally. So if Bradley decides he wants to go with Lynn, he'll do the Skins the courtesy of calling to tell them, in which case the 'Skins won't have a shot at him anyway. If he gets an offer from the Chargers, but would rather coach the Redskins, he'll call them and push them to either S or get off the pot. The relationship ensures they don't have to rush on Bradley.

Everybody needs to chill out. My goodness.
