When I watched the Dallas game I saw Jacobs wide open quite a few times and no one even looked his way. We NEED to spread the ball around a bit more. Even if we dont break huge plays with these other players it keeps the defense honest.

Oh trust me, there was a thread. In fact, there might have even been more than one.

I believe sooner or later Patten would have broken through with some big games for us. It was inevitable with the way Moss was playing things would have opened up for him.

As for Jacobs, I've had his back for quite a while now but I'm on the edge with him now. I really didn't like the way he went after the ball on that INT last week, a very weak effort if you ask me. Coaches have said he's amazing in practice but he hasn't been able to translate that to the game for whatever reason. He couldn't even hold the job over Thrash. I don't think it's looking very good for him headed into the offseason.

I have thought all weak that TJ did a terrible job on that interception last week but I didn't want to start a negative thread after a win. He MUST break up that interception. That was a completely weak attempt on that ball. Now Brunell should not have thrown it, but sometimes QB's make mistakes and it is up to the WR to play DB on some passes. TJ should have tackled that DB if necessary.

we just need another santana on the other side.a few more good groceries will work thats for sure. all they need to do now is fine tune and free up some money for more players like some bookends on defense.
i like what u,m seeing from this team and besides we did play the #1 defense last saturday didn,t we.

Matty, I thought that about that play at first too, then they showed another picture and that INT was squarely on Brunell. I simply don't understand why we dont even ATTEMPT to get Jacobs the ball. We average throwing towards him like once a game, if that.

It wasn't squarely on Brunell. Jacobs got out-muscled and out-hustled to the ball. Simple as that. Looking back, yeah, Brunell probably shouldn't have thrown the ball, but as an NFL QB, you expect your WRs to make a play sometimes!

He never gets ANY separation from defenders in games. I don't know what his deal is.

I'm not saying it wasn't a poor decision by Brunell, it was, but it wasn't a great effort on TJ's part either. The defender outplayed him for the ball. Top flight WR's don't let that happen. At the least, TJ needed to play the role of defender in that situation and try to knock the ball away.

In Jacobs defense, Brunell never throws to him so he was probably the most surprised person in all of Florida when he saw Brunell throw across the grain. And noone is ever going to confuse Taylor for a top flight WR.

Yea, the defender made a nice play on the ball he under cut the route, and tipped the ball to himself, tough to say whether or not Jacob's could have prevented it, the defender had a great angle to shield Jacobs away from the ball.

Jacobs should grab the defender's facemask (and twist) to try to prevent the pick in that situation. It was a straight force by Brunell though. Gibbs keeps talking about how the best plays are the one's a quarterback doesn't make, etc. Well that was one of those. All he had to do was chuck it in the seats. I guess even experienced quarterbacks have limits to their patience.

We may want to revisit this discussion in a week or so. If we win again, hold off until the next week.

The reason the offense sucked against Philly was because Brunell wasn't healthy and didn't get a whole lot of practice in the week before. He didn't admit it after the Philly game (would be a strategic mistake to let the TB defense smell blood), but he's admitted it now. Against TB, he was healthier, but this week, he's completely healthy - I believe the results will show on the field against Seattle.

Our offense has made enormous strides compared to last year. Even outside of Portis' and Moss' stellar stats for the year, we have big play ability, and most importantly, our red zone efficiency (in the second half of the season) is startling. I think the red zone efficiency has been the biggest source of improvement since it directly leads to 7 points. Portis, Sellers, Cooley, and of course Brunell have been key in improving that efficiency.

I would tend to agree with those who say that its not the offensive system that needs to be revamped, but some of the personnel. A solid run blocking left guard, and a fast big man receiver, and we'd be set on offense, I think.

I just can't figure out why so many people try to second guess what Gibbs does. We have had how may loosing seasons while he was away and its taken him how many years to get us in the playoffs? If I would have ask anyone on this sight that if we were playing in the second week of the playoffs would we have had a succesful season? I bet 99% would have said yes and some would have been happy with a winning season and not making the playoffs. We have achieved more than most would have expected. So lets stop second guessing the coaching, QB, players and the ownership and start applauding our achievments. I for one after Saturdays game will applaud our achievments win or a loss but of course would rather applaud a win.

TREMENDOUS POST!!!! Totally on the mark. I think many people on this site cannot understand all the second guessing BS. Particularly in light of the INCREDIBLE turnaround this season!
