the liability against the run was DT #2 (regarless of who was manning the position), carter, holdman, and marshall had a down year and got stuck on a lot of blocks do to blockers getting through to him.

That may be true, but the big point is that we won't be able to play both Adams and Carter if we get them. One is fine, and gives us a solid pass rushing threat. In three years, Adams will probably be better than Carter, but theres just little value in such a move for our team in a time when getting all the value we can out of this pick is crucial.

On top of that, I think it was not only DT 2, but DT 1 and both ends. We just werent any good on the defensive line last year. I think we would have been much lower than 22 vs the run had we not had a secondary that thwarted all plays to the outside.

We were much lower against the run -- #27 to be exact.

Other than that, I agree with everything you said. Apart from Golston, Montgomery, and Carter, our defensive line is old, and they suck.

Alright, good catch. That 27 is much closer to league average than it seems though.

1) by losing all those games, we got run on more than an average team
2) teams like the Jets and the Colts were SO bad against the run that it skews the average towards us

But the point I'm trying to make is that if it wasn't for our secondary, we would have been much worse against the run. We probably didn't have a top 30 defensive line last year.

Our pass defense couldn't have gotten any worse, but our run D certainly could have.

Adams would be a major upgrade over Daniels. If Griffin stays healthy he's solid, Carter came on very strong late. We plug in Golston or Montgomery at DT # 2.

Already Have a major MLB upgrade, Washinton outside, and Rocky or Marshall weakside.

Rogers, Springs, Smoot fight it out for 2 spots.

Taylor

SS ?????????

Looks like AA is toast, based on Post article.

I think we're fine on Defense. It was a record setting bad year in 06' with most of the same personel that was ranked top 10 the year before. They will be hungry to be much better and create more opportunities for victory in 07.

well, adams could commit to putting on 20 pounds, he has space for it, or carriker could be the choice. i'm more up on okoye though.

You know I really don't care who the player of their choice is as long as he's able to come in and be a starting player on the D-Line with the ability to make an impact. Or D-Line is going to be in complete shambles in a couple years, and if we don't draf some young talent to play there now, we'll eventually be looking to fill those positions with FA's in the future, and we all know what that means. When you have the opportunity to draft a quality player, you take advantage because that same opportunity may not be there next year.

DL, LTs, and QBs tend to be the guys that you have to draft, as true impact players there rarely switch teams... and yeah, our line is OLD.

In Mayocks evaluation of Adams on NFL Network then you would have seen that Adams lined up on both sides (at least against Florida State) so moving him over to LDE won't be a problem.

Hi Everyone,

I have been a diehard redskins fan for over 25 yrs. I think to help stop the running game we need to take Alan Branch. This could help the Defense become a top 10 defense this year.

Welcome! I agree. One player at a time, and our D-Line needs four.

Alan Branch!!! We need a playmaker. Branch reminds me of Penn State DT Jim Kennedy. An oversized body thats out of shape and has trouble getting in the starting lineup. Trust me we need someone thats going to energize our defense thats going to get momentum on our side.

I know I've gone on the record saying that I want Alan Branch but I just don't know anymore. The guy seems like nothing more than a big body. If he was a John Henderson type of big guy then I'd say go for it but not in this case.
