Re: Redskins_P presents Best Training Camp Battle
I would hope that Coach wouldn't pull a Ramsey on JC. Brunell is finished. Even his "comeback" 2005 season ended up with him reverting to lousy 2004 form. If it is true JC has worked very hard in the offseason I can't see it being much of a contest between him and Brunell.
To me, the fiercest fight fo a starting job is Lemar and Rocky. Sure Rocky has been named the starter, but Lemar is still a quality LB and the vet starter. Naming Rocky the starter will light a fire under Marshall's butt(maybe that is what the hidden motive of the announcement was). |

Re: Redskins_P presents Best Training Camp Battle
Regarding the second corner spot, I don't think it is that important who is the starter. The thing that Smoot gives them is the ability to move pieces around. Now Springs will be able to line up in the slot and blitz more. Rogers and Smoot can play both sides of the field. I just hope that the d-line takes some strides forward. If Carter plays like he did in the second half and Griff can stay healthy, they will be fine. I would like them to sign some huge run stuffer to stick in there on running downs. Did Grady Jackson get released? Sign him and Adams and the corners would barely be in bounds when they line up.

Re: Redskins_P presents Best Training Camp Battle
I said other because i believe the best battle will be Jansen vs. Wade. First off I don't think wade can play left guard. He's way to big and doesn't have the quickness or leverage to get under DT. I think eventually Bugal will figure this out. I do believe however that he is better than Jansen at right tackle. Though I am a huge Jansen fan for his sevice throughout the years, his play has really dropped off the last two years. I believe that Wade is a better player, we know from reports that many of our dlinemen also believe this to be true. Don't see it happening though, Jansen is a team leader.

Re: Redskins_P presents Best Training Camp Battle
I don't really see many spots that are wide open. I could see Smoot and Rogers have some good competition for the #2 spot and I wouldn't be surprised to see Smoot win out. Rogers needs to pick up his game, perhaps having someone breathing down his neck will help.
Rocky has the OLB job unless he really stinks in training camp. I think the coaches really like the idea of Marshall as the backup since he's so verstatile and can fill in at inside and outside. |

Re: Redskins_P presents Best Training Camp Battle
i picked Marshall vs. McIntosh. you know the skins coaching loves Marshall's versatility, and because McIntosh is such a high pick they want him on the field. i can see the skins using some defenses with all 4 linebackers on the field together

Re: Redskins_P presents Best Training Camp Battle
if Washington is really as hurt as some people seem to think I wonder if Marshall will have a chance to take over his spot. I don't know if Marshall has ever played WLB but he seems versatile enough to do well there.
Washington is obviously a leader for our defense and when he's healthy he's one of our best players but I feel like he tends to miss on a lot of plays. I remember getting pissed at him more than a few times last season for missing an INT or a tackle, but so was everyone else. If he's slowed by injury I would think that Williams might keep him on a shorter leash and give Marshall a chance to show what he can do.

Fox vs Landry et al. I think Fox won't go away easy.

Re: Redskins_P presents Best Training Camp Battle
And that's the same reason we let productive guys like Pierce and Ryan Clark walk. Fox filled in nicely for us last year. If you watch the games as much as I do you would know that. No offense 'Quake. The FO may be itching to upgrade several players who wasn't drafted in the first round. Which makes no sense. More accurately, they would rather keep Fox as a special teamer and look to aquire 'first round talent' regardless of cost...
Judge a player by his game, not by where he's drafted. |
