God bless Bill Walsh and his family. He was the architect of the west coast offense and for many more important reasons, he will be missed.

Unbelievably brilliant coach. I love the 80s niners. He completely changed the way quarterbacks manage the game today. Good bye Bill, RIP. Thanks for everything!

And on that note, while Joe Montana was undoubtedly great, he owes a ton to Bill Walsh who utilized him to the fullest.

RIP Bill Walsh. He was definitely one of the greats of all time, without him we'd be looking at an entirely different game today.

Probably did more to usher in modern offensive football than anyone else.

Wow. Didn't realize that. Wonder what that game was like. Didn't we manage to avoid them in the playoffs during the '91 season too?
we beat them in the 1983 nfc championship game at rfk too.in 1991 the skins beat arlanta, and beat detroit the next week 41-10.

Wow! Truly one of the most legendary coaches of all time. RIP Bill Walsh! I hated the 49ers because they were so dominate in the 80's, but I respected Bill Walsh a great deal. I knew he had Cancer. 75 is too young to die as far as I'm concerned.

I agree about Walsh and the niners.

75 is 3 years above the average age for a male. Given what he accomplished, I say he had a great life.

Agreed! Man! Cancer has taken so many wonderful people in this world. I'm holding out hope that one day, there will be cure!

OK, this is the "government conspiracy" coming out of me, but I feel that they already know of a cure, or are 1 step away but will never tell us cause the cancer industry is so profitable.

You never know man! But ya know, if that's true, how horrible is that? That money would be worth more than life!
