Re: Gibbs to Resign as HC/President

I imagine that GW will take the helm. The question then becomes: what goes on in the FO? Will Saunders stay as OC? If Saunders goes, bye bye Collins.

Ahhhhhhhh.

I am very surprised. I really thought he'd be back for his final year.

I would think Williams would get the nod and Al Saunders sticks around. My question is what about Bugel and the rest of the gang?????

Who will replace him? Bill Cowher? Cam Cameron?

Gibbs will remain the best Redskin I ever knew and he will always remain the face of the team.

Re: Gibbs to Resign as HC/President

He'd been talking for a while that he would fulfill his contract, and be here 5 years. This really surprises me, as he's got this team to a point where the development is going in the right direction. He'll surely be missed...

Pray that Snyder has learned something in these last four years, cause if he goes back to the "quick fix" days - we are going back to the cellar.

I'm bummed, I thought he would at least finish out the 5 years and I was really hoping for more. I just hope we can build on the continuity we've got going and not tear things apart too much as far as the coaches go. I'm guessing this means some of his right hand guys like Bugel will be leaving too.

That's what I'm worried about - continuity. The only thing that's been continuous over the last 15 years has been mediocrity.

The revolving door pattern of coaches and players in this organization has got to be the central problem. That or we've got the worst luck of anyone.

Re: Gibbs to Resign as HC/President

i can't say I am sad that he is leaving. I have thought during the season that this wasn't working. if any good comes out of him being here, it will be the attitudes of the players, the team becoming a family, and showing Danny that charachter guys are more important to a winning franchise than a bunch of over priced pre-madonnas.
hopefully Greg will be names the head coach. I dont see him staying around if he isnt. He will be a person of interest for a few teams out there, and hopefully we can persuade Al that he should stay as OC. the stability of the franchise is very important. the guys on this team have really come together and started to gel towards the end of the year. if they go outside the organization it will bring new coaches, new schemes and new philosophies, which I dont think is good for this team. Greg has become a better "people" person under Gibbs than he was in Buffalo, and the players really seem to play hard for him, even when you would think they would give up after those losing streaks.

can't see the skins going outside the organization for a new coach.on the same hand,i can't say that williams ,sanders,or any other current coach on the staff are great head coach material either.

Re: Gibbs to Resign as HC/President

Williams is the only answer at this point while retaining Saunders.

Think of it...who else is strong enough to come in and flush the coaching staff and start again...especially from a personel standpoint....
Cowher?
Other than him....no one that is available could pull that off.

Right now, what this team needs is stability and a steady hand...that screams Coach Williams.

Re: Gibbs to Resign as HC/President

It was time for Joe to step down, but I was hoping that he would stay on as President though. I'm said for that because the man knows football even though coaching is over his head. Like Parcells stated earlier this (coaching) is a young man's game. I just hope that we keep Williams or Saunders as HC. I do not want some college coach to come in and changed things in this organization. We need some continuity. I'm hearing that Synder might be tempted to contact Pete Carroll or some high profile name. This would be a huge mistake. ONCE AGAIN, YOU CAN NOT BLAME HIM, HE CAN NOT COACH FOREVER!!

What's your source for that?
