Re: King predicts Haynesworth to Redskins

I have seen Hanesworth on and off the field here in Tennessee alot... The Titans don't want to loose this guy! He will make Jason Taylor and and Carter play better and the CB's don't have to dominate to win...just maintain coverage!!!! Will also help the O-Line in practice.

We have other needs but if we address it right in the draft then I think DT will be added help!

Re: King predicts Haynesworth to Redskins

I'd say get him and pay him what he wants, just make the contract production oriented...you want to make the big bucks, keep up the good work! These big contracts that are all front-loaded are crazy...the players have no incentive to keep playing at the pace that's gotten them to this point when their bank account is now fat.

Re: King predicts Haynesworth to Redskins

Haynesworth is a stud when he's playing for a contract. When he's not.... not so much.
King makes good points:
- He has yet to play a full season without missing multiple games (he's missed 25 games the past 6 seasons).
- He's known for taking plays off.
- He's never played more than 65% of the Titans' defensive snaps in a season.
- He'll be 28 this year.
- He wants to get paid 8 figures a year well into his mid-30's.

NO THANKS. I agree with the other folks around here who think this reeks of Dana Stubblefield.

Signing him would go directly against the fiscally responsible youth movement we're craving around here.

Re: King predicts Haynesworth to Redskins

This reminds me of a couple years ago when it was reported that the Skins had JeMarcus Russell in for a workout. Everybody (well, at least a lot of people) paniced & thought we might trade up to the #1 spot & get him. In reality it was just the Skins staff doing its due diligence.

The Danny is a serious biz man. Who knows how many dinners at Mortons he's had w/how many agents? Just because Peter King finds out doesn't suddenly make it significant. The danny is a dealer w/a historic propensity to drop lots of cash on free agents, so what agent that has worked w/him in the past wouldn't want to bend his ear & make a pitch for their client w/him? The 2 having dinner could've ended up being more about the Danny telling him that he's not going to pay too much for anybody, i.e. how Haynesworth is out of his price range.

On the other hand, of course DS wants to see what the agent is asking for, if nothing else for comparison's sake in how to gauge the market.

As for the football part of it, don't do it! AH is not worth it!

Not a bad point. Haynesworth's agent might also be making the rounds and knows that if he can get word out that Dan Snyder is interested he might be able to get more money from a team like Tampa Bay that has $40 million in cap space (so Dan does him a solid and they both get dinner at Morton's). I'm sure the Redskins would be interested in Haynesworth, I just don't understand how they could afford to bring him on at $15 mil per year (the number King mentioned). That is not to say it is not possible, maybe it is pretty easy if you dump Taylor and Springs, but it seems like it would be next to impossible to get both Hall and Haynesworth done.

It would be worth our while to drive his price up by just putting our name to it. Skins interested drives the price up I have to believe.

Re: King predicts Haynesworth to Redskins

The correct pronunciation of Dana's last name is Stubbydick not Stubblefield.

haynesworth will be the next best free agent signing since we got london fletcher...even if he doesn't try, he's still a big body and a force for our defense

Pass on Haynesworth, let someone else be the sucker

Re: King predicts Haynesworth to Redskins

The fact that he's only going to pay 65% of snaps is exactly why I would not spend the big bucks on him. Because otherwise, he is worth it.

If the price comes down after a week or two, I would get into the mix on Haynesworth. He's a sound investment at less than elite prices.

I agree with all you guys.... I could not have said it better...

Haynesworth would up grade our d-line, just don't do it at the expense of all our other need areas.

If FAT **** KING is so sure of this story then why are we restructuring Griffin's contract?
