Wtf????

http://msn.foxsports.com/story/3172694

Ok, now people like Tony Dungy are bring the whole racial card into it....Come on!!! I can understand how some people could find it inappropriate from the sexual references (even though I don't agree), or just thought it was dumb, but why bring race into it? Until I read this article, I didn't even think about that. TO is black and NS is white...so what! That has absolutely nothing to do with it. The controversy is about the sexual nature of the skit, not what color their skin is. Jeez!!!

Oh, and by the way, think the ratings for "Desperate Housewives" will be up this week??? I wouldn't be surprised if some of the original "complaints" were from ABC/Disney employees, just to get it started...

I think that it is fair enough that T.O. apologized "IF it offended anyone". There's no need for wasting taxpayers time and money on an FCC investigation. It was a one-time skit that played up on the polularity of Desperate Housewives.

I wasn't so much offended with the content of the skit, than the fact that it existed in the first place. It's not the job of the NFL to directly promote any shows on any network.

Did T.O. get a check for being in a Desperate Housewives commercial? Probably not.

Did the Eagles approve of the use of their jerseys in the commercial? Doubt it.

Someone from ABC probably said "We'd like TO for the opener", and they said fine. If the exact same commercial was made to promote MNF, I'd think it was hysterical - the NFL isn't their to talk up another product, though.

ABC was doing cross promotion. Happens ALL THE TIME! Obviously, it worked.

I understand that. When Urkel showed up on "Full House" (?), that was cross-promotion. When ABC is televising a sporting event, it should be a higher standard. It's as sleazy as when Dan Rather (or one of his ilk) does a "Special Report" on the impact of "Survivor" - which just happens to air on his network. That ain't news, and this wasn't sports.

Oh yeah that was a classic Full House, the one where Steph was going to get glasses and she was always tentative about it, but then Urkel showed up and.....I should stop

But anyway, networks always use sporting events to promote their shows. Whether it was Pat Summerrall on CBS back in the day "Coming up after the game, what does this man know that could save your life, find out on 60 minutes, except on the west coast, followed by Murder...She Wrote" or FOX where during the baseball playoffs they show fans/FOX actors who just "happen" to be at the game

Right, Smootsmack - but that's the line. I happen to think that the game is news that the network is exclusively covering. I wouldn't like it if Scott Peterson turned to the camera after hearing the verdict to ask me to watch "Joey".

Well, that I might like. But it would be over the line.

Brud... That's a rather extreme example. Honestly, it wasn't even SEXUAL. It's not something I liked, but I don't understand the big deal. If your kid can't handle that, perhaps you should let them out of their bubble from time to time.
