Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.

Hightower isn't that good, but he'll probably start here until Helu is ready. We essentially just have him on a one-year rental because he's UFA after the year.

I can't imagine that Hightower's impact on the offense will be greater than Vonnie's impact on the defense would have been. But this team isn't going anywhere, and this move knocks the average age of our team down a notch (my favorite meaningless stat!)

Nice knowing you, Ryan Torain.

I was going to say that about Royster... You think he makes it over Torain?

I compare Hightower to Marion Barber, a tough nose guy that is not afraid to run between the tackles, great move as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not sure either makes it. Gun to my head right now, I think:

RB + FB

Hightower
Helu
Keiland
Darrel Young

Royster passes through waivers to the PS.

Even so, I would bet the over on 15 carries for Royster this season.

So at the end of the day you feel Keiland Williams at this point essentially beats him out?

Special teams play matters. It's why the Sellers at TE experiment will be given a chance to work. Then another chance. Then another chance.

Wait, you're comparing Hightower'is impact/production to Vonnie's? I don't know about that one, bruh. This guy ain't Adrian Peterson, but he should step right in and play a very significant role and pick up where Clinton Portis did in pass pro.

Gonna have to disagree with you on that one. But we'll see when he hits the field.

Comparing depth at RB to depth at DE. Seemed like, before this trade, we had both. Now it seems like we have just one.

Of course, this trade likely signaled that Holliday wasn't going to make the team anyway, so there's that. Hightower can now replace Torain as the fan's crush who probably isn't helping the team that much.

If he lays out a couple of NFC East linebackers in pass pro, it will be a trade well spent. For entertainment value at least. I'd rather have kept the 6th rounder or 7th rounder or whatever it ends up being.

Yes. I think that Holliday, despite past contributions, was not going to factor much this year. We're riding the Jarvis Jenkins train for good or for ill. So I think that Hightower will contribute more than Holliday would.

Re: Arizona RB Tim Hightower traded to Redskins.

About a week ago I posted a reply in our FA thread stating I thought we should sign D Williams and a few big posters stated "we have so and so RBs on our depth chart" and responded viciously. Its OBVIOUS now that Shanny was feeling... the fact that none of our RBs are anywhere near what other teams have. Keiland Willams and James Davis just won't cut it fellas.
I still think we shoulda nabbed D Will and now were on Hightower.

As for Hightower... he's really not that bad. And I'm glad we got him. I like Keiland Williams.. but he's just not what we need.
Hightower has big play capabilities.. and that's what I felt we needed from RB

GTripp,
If there is a signing the majority of people on the Warpath like or approve of, you come up with something negative about the signing. If the majority hates the signing of a player you come up with something positive to say. I noticed that alot................Lol
So in saying that, you bring down when i like the signing but in return you get me excited about the signing when i dont like it!

I think your observation is spot on. I'm in the business of being right, not parroting the masses.

Like the move. Very underrated RB. Young, hard runner, who can pass block, catch, and has speed to break a long one. I've always felt he can be a good starting caliber RB, and now he has that chance; Giving up Holliday, who was expendable, and a 5th.

Great Move
